Wireless Internet NTL

I have just bought a laptop and wanted to set up a wireless network so that i can use the internet on it. I have bought the Belkin Wireless G Router, but when i tried to connect it up to the main computer, it couldn't recognise the router.
I have NTL broadband connected to the main comp, through a small blue box that goes into the USB port. So i used the modem from this box and put it into the router and then plugged the blue cable that came in the pack, into the usb box.
Can anybody help me? Im not sure if i have done it wrong

first off is the belkin for cable (if not take it back )your blue box ( http://www.cableforum.co.uk/images/ntl250a.jpg
) should have a usb and a ethernet port on ( http://wiki.pomona.edu/pub/FAQ/NetworkDormSetup/LaptopEthernet.JPG ) and the belkin should have a "connection to modem on" mine has .
connect the the blue box and the belkin using the port in the pic and to the connect to modem port on router ,you will have four more on the belkin numdered 1~4 plug in to one and find the port in the pic on the back off your pc and plug in to it ,turn the blue box off for a few mins and turn it back on and it should work
there or their, one day i might us the right one ,until then tuff

belkins dont have USB ports on the routers....

so if he is cable gonna have to switch his modem to a ethernet

and if he is ADSL he can just plug that into his router...if its a ADSL router

Disconnect the USB cable (no longer required) and connect the NTL modem to the router using the Ethernet cable. Follow the instructions provided with the router.

Are you saying that you did not get any instructions with your Belkin router?

You can no longer use USB with a router. You need an Ethernet port on your PC like this:

    You may not have one!
