Advice Required ~~ NATIONWIDE Special Presentation of a Cheque??

Im due to get my paycheque on friday and im wanting to do a nationwide special presentation so that i have money in my account for when im on holiday (fly out friday)
My only worry is that when Nationwide do a special presentation of a cheque they post the cheque out of the branch and im scared that it will go missing and we'll be without money on holiday
Is there a way that i can take the cheque to wherever they send it for my own peace of mind?
Or would i be best taking it into a cheque shop? and lose a little on it just to be 100% sure ?
Many Thanks
Fatz

hard decision, you could just trust them to send it out because if it gets lost theyd have to replace it wudnt they? but thats what i would do to be 100% sure take it to a cheque shop.0

They send it to the bank and branch the cheque is drawn (or the central address quoted on the cheque or other location if instructed in the sort code book).
Special presentation doesnt clear the cheque any quicker. It just confirms whether the cheque will be paid or not. You still wont be able to draw against it via cashpoint until it has cleared.I am an Independent Financial Adviser (IFA). The comments I make are just my opinion and are for discussion purposes only. With the postal strike, I would not risk special presentation. I would play it safe and pay the extra.0

thanks for your advice.
ive had special presentations done before where they have cleared the next working day.(around 5pm)
what kind of percentage do cheque shops take off the cheque?0 -

If we knew the answer, we would let people draw against it over the counter or issue cheques against it but electronically, the cheque still showed as uncleared.
Of course, different banks have different ways of doing things.I am an Independent Financial Adviser (IFA). The comments I make are just my opinion and are for discussion purposes only. At the NATIONWIDE they send the cheque 1st class then call the bank to see if it will clear and then make the funds available.
as the cheque is for £3,000 i dont want to give away a large percentage to a cheque shop so ive decided to bank it in the hole in the wall
ill wait until next week to draw upon it
ive still got a load of Bulgarian Levs and some euros and a bit of GBP left
Im just panicking incase the cheque bounced.
But not 1 pay cheque has bounced to date so should be ok
thanks

Why not arrange an overdraft facility at your bank in case of need?0

Unless you had credit problems it would save you lots of hassle and work out cheaper than any of the other options you've suggested.Gwlad heb iaith, gwlad heb galon0
