Don't have any forms on your site that send emails.

    Gotcha, good tip, thanks.

Right, I'm going to try 000web. I'll give it a few days then report back on how it goes.

Also beware of doing bulk mail shots via the domain linked email. If you do, look at your website log, do these sent mails display there? If so, monitor things carefully. You may be OK with it or on the other hand, 000webhost may not like it.

A year on, in case anyone comes across this thread, the state of play re my experience of best free website hosting:

    1. Altervista. Works well, recommended.

    2. xtreemhost. Works well, but they no longer accept free sites.

    3. 000webhost. Mixed bag. I set up 5 sites. Two kept going up and down like a yoyo so I moved them elsewhere. One (completely innocent) site got suspended for violating a rule but 000web do not offer support for free sites so would not tell me what rule! This has happened to several people (see 000web forum) and may be too high a risk to run for many website owners. However, 2 of my 5 sites remain there and work OK.

    4. Virtual Adult for adult sites. Run by nice guys, free, no ads forced on you, works well, reliable. Recommended.

For the record, ones I tried that didn't work out.

    1. Eadulthost. Disappeared without trace.

    2. Freehosting.com. Accepts adult sites. Very unreliable. After 8 months of my site going down sometimes several times a day I decamped to Virtual Adult which is sooo much better.

If eadulthost is the best by far, how can Altervista be nearly as good? :)

I was just wondering why you need so many sites.

Hmmm. By chance the eadulthost site went down yesterday for a few minutes - first time it's been down. So nearly as good is now more accurate than by far.

I've created lots of (free) sites since 1998, all on what was Freeserve, and on widely varying subjects. But EE is being taken over by BT and who knows if BT will continue support for freeserve, fsnet, etc sites.
