Wheel fell off car on motorway

cheers tilt
There was also significant body damage where a slid along the outside barrier before coming to a stop
It that case inform the insurance company, if you've damaged the barrier it'll be expensive. You have had an accident, however the cause was a mechanical defect so they may or may not pay.0 -
What is the best way to post pics
When I click on Insert Image its asking for a URL0 -
I tthink there's an external site called Tinypic?0

Just posted a couple of pics above - one of the wheel and one of the car0

OK, well that's certainly not a failure that I've ever seen before.
It doesn't look like there was failure of the wheel bearing.
It's mechanical failure causing loss of control for sure, but not due to wear and tear,
Your insurance should cover that if all else fails, but first of all, I'd be having a good rant at the dealer (even if it's not really their fault).
There's either a problem with the manufacture or that failure is due to previous excess loading (possible collision damage of some kind).
This car hasn't been a stolen/recovered or anything like that has it?0 -
I bought in from a dealer 2 months ago - I think it was about 8 months old at the time and had about 3.5k on clock.
I wasn't made aware at point of purchase of any previous damage or repairs etc.0 -
Hi there 1st glad to see you are alright. Looking at your pictures i'd be contacting either your local Vauxhall dealer or Vauxhall customer services as your rear axle is shot, it shouldn't being doing that if you blew a tyre unless you hit a kerb quite hard then
maybe. I'd be looking for new axle, rear brake hose, hand brake cable, caliper, rear discs and pads, rear shocker under warranty.
You could push for rear alloy for goodwill gesture and maybe tyre
but that could be a sticking point. Try your local dealer first and if
no luck phone customer services.0 -
I think your damned unlucky to have this happen. I bet the dealer will be a bit shocked with that too.
The only suggestion would be to get the car recovered to the dealer (or have them collect it from wherever) and see what they suggest next.
You'll have to notify your insurer as there will be a claim for street furniture plus it's considered a loss; however, all of it should be reclaimable and you shouldn't be out by a single penny (though you've lost one of your nine lives but doubt you'd have a meritious claim for that).
It might be collision damage post blow out but even so - I'd be looking to see what the dealer is prepared to do first.0 -
That is not good and i dont know what has caused your failure
if it was me the first thing i would would do is talk to the selling dealer to see what they have to say about it0
