Un-linking email from phone

Hi all


I'm not sure if this should be posted here or in the Techie Forum, hopefully someone can help.


I used to use a Nokia Lumia 820 but have now got a Nokia Lumia 725 (I think that's what it is, the latest one). My son is now using my 820. However, all my email notifications are showing on both phones? Can anybody advise me how to "unlink" my email address from the old phone please? (I also went through the old phone and deleted all contact numbers that my son wouldn't need and it somehow deleted them from my phone as well!)


Any advice appreciated.

Delete the email account from the phone's email app. A factory restore (after data back up) would have been the simple way to clean it up before passing it onto your son.

I have looked for a way to delete the email but can't find it anywhere? How do I do a factory restore please? (I'm presuming this will not lose his credit as he has a PAYG sim in it)?

It does nothing to the sim, it merely resets the phone to how it was when new.


Follow these instructions to reset your Nokia Lumia.

On Start, swipe across and tap Settings.
Tap about.
Tap reset your phone.
Tap yes.
Tap yes again to start the factory reset.

If you don't want to factory reset, here is how to remove an email account:

Follow these instructions to delete an email configuration.

Press arrow right to access the main menu
Press Settings
Press "email+accounts"
Press and hold the required email account
Press delete
Press delete to confirm

3. Exit

Press the Home key to return to standby mode

I have just tried to delete the email account again and when you press and hold the email account name, the only option I get is to "sync" (this is what happened before), there's no option to delete?

I presume you are trying to delete the Microsoft email (the top one) and it's the only email entry?

You can't leave the phone without a Microsoft/Live log in, you would need to get your son to log in with his and then try and delete or just doing a reset (which is the simple solution).
