Virgin Mobile refusing to provide fault details in writing

Grateful for some advice please: Virgin Mobile (VM) repairs team assessed my faulty iphone 4s (contract began December 2014). They sent it back to me unrepaired. On a second thought, Virgin have the right to repair the phone themselves, without Apple. However, in this case they had to provide an intelligible proof of the damage instead of fobbing you off to Apple after tampering with the phone and invalidating the warranty.
