Jojo - I hope it gets sorted for you soon. That woman wants a good slap by the sounds of it (not that I'd advise that of course
)
Baileys - has your OH asked about lithium? It was first researched in the 70s so I'm not sure how many GPs now will be familiar with it but the evidence at the time suggested that it helped quite dramatically. (I am a bio-chem nerd and a chronic migraine sufferer if you're wondering) It seems to be especially helpful for the chronic types. I would definitely ask and if your GP doesn't take to the suggestion, I would ask him/her what harm a quick course under their supervision could do that an episode of cluster headaches couldn't.
On a positive note, I stopped to see my parents on the way to get DH's new phone and came away with my mum's old phone (only 12 months) because she's had an upgrade! On same network as DH too so doesn't need unlocking

Bob and clf thank you for the kind words regarding OH health its just the way it is and you just adapt the best you can. It can cause frustrations and conflict for us as it is invisible so I'm not always aware how serve it is at any given time unless OH tells me but when its bad he ends up in his own world trying to fight/cope with the pain another symptom can be lack of concentration so even holding a conversation can be quite tricky and discussing important matters like life assurance feel neigh on impossible as he has to be able to function, we need time and space, the children need to be occupied and we need the facts to hand. I try to make the last one possible by researching things first and having them available when we are. We are fortunate that OH employers are very supportive, they have kept him as a full time employee even though he isn't always well enough to work full time, often for months on end, if he has an episode at work they have implemented a quiet space for OH to retreat to and the rule is NO ONE is allowed to talk to him when he is there, if he says he will be late not in that day because of his illness no questions are asked and on the 2 occasions he has been off for many months in addition to the calls/emails I received asking after him one of the owners rang ME to assure me that he would continue to be paid his normal pay ongoingly. Apart from this medical condition OH is fit and well and hardly ever ill. Sorry this has turned in to an essay.
Wow, thank goodness there are some understanding employers around or that could add to the daily stress big time.Goodreads 2025 Challenge :16/75

Sorry for posting and running earlier, its been a busy day with one thing or another but finally caught up.
Thanks ziggy for the start
Bob Hope you've had a good day and aren't overdoing it x
Immoral_angeluk Hope you enjoy the film
Dawn, hope you've had a good day. Leek & potato soup is a family favourite.
Twiggy I agree with you, I'm definitely more productive since posting on here
Clf I'm not looking forward to the change in weather
PPP Loving the sound of your flapjacks, will definitely be saving that recipe to try. Great news about getting hubby a replacement phone too.
Jojo I hope you get sorted soon, that woman sounds like a right mare. Must be so stressful.
BB Nice to hear a good story about supportive employers, my OH's aren't at all, work everyone to the ground and they wonder why so many of his colleagues are signed off with stress
I hope I haven't missed anyone out.
Its been a nice day here although a cool wind. I had a PT session at the gym this morning which was ace, he pushed me really hard but I felt so good once the torture was overThis was followed by a catch up with a friend over coffee (usually go to costa/nero) but today I went to her's so it was free which was lovely and she is an amazing baker and had made some hot cross bun type things which I had one warm for my breakfast, lovely
Popped to Mr T, picked up some cooked meat for sarnies tomorrow and also a few YS bits for the kids tea.
After getting the kids from school its a chill night tonight, its the first school night in ages that we haven't had a club, friend over etc and its been lovelyThe kids are chilled out enjoying each others company and its just so nice not to be clockwatching/chasing around for a change with them.
Tonight is going to be left overs for our tea, with the addition of a garlic/cheese flatbread YS from this morning, which looks amazingThen cwtch up on the sofa watching a film from our stash with hubby later. I can't wait.
Have a lovely evening all xxxFollowing :money: to keep us debt free :j0 -

BB - I really am so sorry to hear all of that about your husbands health. It must be incredibly hard on him & you. The saving grace is his amazing sounding employers. Is there much support in terms of councelling groups etc for that condition? Trying to get anything done with this added huge shadow over you must be so hard. You always sound incredibly positive, especially now you have shared this part of your life. I take my hat off to you." Your vibe attracts your tribe":D

Hello Everyone
JoJo - People like that woman you had to deal with make you realise where David Walliams got his inspiration for 'computer says no' lady. All you can do is what you are doing. Being calm & keep kicking away at their BS. I know you will anyway.
Hannah - I hate how overscheduled life can be, so your after school of leisure sounds ideal.
Today has been another funny one really. Busy start, then long periods of nothing, bit of a lunch, then a few late comers & then the school run.
Did have a really good opportunity present itself though. A lady who runs kids classes wants to book the space 2 or 3 nights per week. Rate isnt awesome, but she has an established business, and it would add around £100 a week to the bottom line with no outgoings from me. I have emailed her back and asked a lot of questions regarding the insurance situation, hers, mine, liability in the case of accidents etc. I told her I am being very cautious now so hopefully if we can get it all hammered out she can just get on and use the space. She is very well known in our area & taught for 15 years so Im quite optimisitc that this is a real deal and not someone who is going to try it and give up.
My accountant is being a little pushy, having said he was cool about me paying him in 2 installments he has started asking a bit about when hes going to get the first one. He only billed me at the start of the month. I told him probably not this coming week, but the one after I should be able to pay him half. I HAVE to pay myself before that as I didnt put any money into our account this month, and things are a bit dire. Its horrible when you want to pay a bill but have to also balance your families outgoings. I did explain to him as well that I am about to get a large sum, no point lying he will know anyway! And he could just wait for that. But anyway....biggest learning is for next year I will ensure the full amount is put away out of the insurance settlement and not touched.
Sons teacher forgot to send his reading book home tonight, so effectively a free pass for me! I am dragging this sore carcass off the wallow in some bubbles.

I've been taking it easy today. OH's grandad passed away today so it's been a funny sort of day. He's been ill for a while and we knew it would be soon, but it still hits you once it does come to pass. You realise how fragile life is.

Evening Fellow Frugalistas,
Busy few days with the veggie garden, election campaigning & clearing our messy driveway so energetically, I'm seizing up if I sit down. A few bits of money saving activity today so here goes:
*Free fitness delivering election leaflets along a very long road. Enjoyed seeing all the spring flowers in people's gardens.
*Pulled the leftover brisket I cooked yesterday in the slow cooker, heated it up in leftover onion gravy & served it in Aldi brioche baps with home made coleslaw.
*Picked huge bunch of sorrel from our garden & made a big pan of sorrel soup. Have guests tomorrow, so this will do lunch with home baked bread rolls (found some in freezer).
*Baked biscuits.
*Cleaned house using minimal products.
*Final grocery shop of April's budget. £8 overspent this month, but with various Easter festivities, I thought it might be more, so was quite pleased.
*Free coffees in Waitrose & Mr f treated me to an almond croissant :-)
*Another £15 Sainsbury's gift card arrived from Toluna surveys. Will update my signature in a minute, as am logging all my survey payments this year.
*Received £5 voucher in reply to my letter regarding some sharp pieces of something found in a packet of own brand crisps.
*Have progressed my knitting a little.....still not enough to wear it......unless I want a one-armed shrug, as the main body of the garment is knitted downwards from the sleeve sections if this makes sense (I know it doesn't, but the garment is hard to describe).
*No heating been on for last few days, not even needed heated towel rail.
Have had a quick catch up with what you've all been doing. Bob - thanks for your PM. I answered it, but my tablet was having a massive la-lah at the time & you may not have received it. BB - Cluster headaches sound awful. I've suffered with migraines in the past, mostly hormonal, & found that taking feverfew tablets max dose daily in the 2nd half of my cycle helped, but only one particular brand....I guess cheaper brands didn't have sufficient of the active herb in them. I also found that eating less sugar seemed to help. I've seen cluster headaches mentioned but didn't really know anything about them. They sound utterly vile & your partner has my full sympathy.
Ok, time to test the home-baked biscuits & get my knitting out.
