Bob and clf thank you for the kind words regarding OH health its just the way it is and you just adapt the best you can. It can cause frustrations and conflict for us as it is invisible so I'm not always aware how serve it is at any given time unless OH tells me but when its bad he ends up in his own world trying to fight/cope with the pain another symptom can be lack of concentration so even holding a conversation can be quite tricky and discussing important matters like life assurance feel neigh on impossible as he has to be able to function, we need time and space, the children need to be occupied and we need the facts to hand. I try to make the last one possible by researching things first and having them available when we are. We are fortunate that OH employers are very supportive, they have kept him as a full time employee even though he isn't always well enough to work full time, often for months on end, if he has an episode at work they have implemented a quiet space for OH to retreat to and the rule is NO ONE is allowed to talk to him when he is there, if he says he will be late not in that day because of his illness no questions are asked and on the 2 occasions he has been off for many months in addition to the calls/emails I received asking after him one of the owners rang ME to assure me that he would continue to be paid his normal pay ongoingly. Apart from this medical condition OH is fit and well and hardly ever ill. Sorry this has turned in to an essay.

Ziggy, the recipe is really easy. I adapted it from a recipe I found online:
100g butter
200g oats
100g sultanas
3 tbsp honey
2 bananas - mashed
1 tsp cinnamon
The original recipe uses golden syrup instead of honey and dates instead of sultanas but I thought that'd be way too sickly sweet. It also adds a few handfuls of chopped walnuts and seeds but DS1 is too young for that to work for us.
You could swap back to golden syrup if you prefer it and of course substitute the sultanas for any other dried fruit you have in.
Anyhoo...
Melt the butter in a saucepan then stir in the cinnamon (or ginger, whatever you like) & honey.
Chuck the oats into the mix and give it a good stir until they're coated thoroughly.
Mix in the sultanas and then add the mashed bananas and mix really well. Place in greased baking tin and put in the oven at 180 (gas mark 6) for 20 minutes.
Score lines for the 12 squares it makes whilst still warm from oven but don't cut until cool - and you're done
It makes quite a moist, sticky flapjack not the dense bar sort but that's what we prefer. In fact I used 2 & a half bananas each time because I had odd bits of DS1's left. It still sets into squares though, don't worry.
I will def be making these as healthy snacks for us. Have some black bananas in the freezerLBM 11/06/2010: DFD 30/04/2013Total repaid: £10,490.310 -

Hi BB - I really feel for you, as my OH has PTSD and it sounds like your OH may have a similar condition? (I can understand if you don't want to answer/go into too many details)

Hi clf sorry to read your OH has PTSD, thankfully my OH is spared that, no he has a neurological condition
called chronic cluster headaches, this link (sorry I have no idea how to do embedded links in MSE) should give you some idea what they are. http://www.patient.co.uk/health/cluster-headaches-leaflet
OH was diagnosed 8 years 11 months ago and in that time he has had a symptom free episode of 9 months (over 5 years ago), he has somewhere between 6 and 12 attacks per day each with a duration of 45-120 minutes, the attacks arrive suddenly with no warning. OH finds that the oxygen doesn't always help and the tablets which are classed as a preventive have some benefit but do not prevent the headaches. Triggers for my OH are alcohol (he is dry) and if he gets to hot, their must be more but we have yet to discover them.Fashion on a ration 2025 0/66 coupons spent

I'm very sorry to hear that. It's interesting that many of the consequent symptoms that you describe are similar to PTSD, but without the headaches to trigger them.LBM 11/06/2010: DFD 30/04/2013Total repaid: £10,490.310 -

polly oohhh I think I'll give them ago. A lot of natural sugars there which are easier for body to break down easier and they sound yummy
Well went straight to council offices this morning re b end fits. Apparently all my letters have had on that I receive maturity pay and I never told them it stopped. Which I informed her I never told then I had maturity pay at all as I didn't claim anything when I was on maturity. "well what did you do to money" .....hate having to tell my life story to someone who doesn't really care!
Also when I said I've been told that I still be entitled to some help once I started work, she replied 'well you shouldn't believe everything your told' which I informed her it was the job centre who had informed me of this and it also says it on the benefits website?! I can understand little errors but I would assume the website is pretty much right or what's the point?
Stressed! Hopefully it get sorted but Ive already received full Bill for c/tax which I can just about cover but full rent? I'm not prepared for that! I mean once you start getting bank charges etc it's hard to pull back :-( not really sure what to do. Will venture back tomorrow morning before work again.
Going to look back through my paperwork tonight to see if that paperwork does have maturity pay on their or not?! But I wouldn't of been giving income support etc if it was. Confused. Most annoying thing everything had just been settled, had all my new bills which tallied to what I was told I would be getting. Just makes no sense.
