Barclays ISA transfer in

Santander transfer form needs a signature too according to this link:

I'm sure there must be a few that are the exception to the rule (there always is) but the majority seem to require a signature to do these transfers and in such cases my experience has been that it certainly takes a lot longer than a week from start to finish to get the funds to their intended destination.0 -
I am still to find one without a signature required... Can someone kindly send me a link.
I can only go on my own experience.
When I spoke to the Barclays agent this morning, she took down the details of the Santander ISA I want to transfer, asked roughly how much then said that would be done. No paper work to be sent.
From the Barclays website...How to transfer
It’s easy to make a transfer to us – if you’re registered for Online Banking, simply log in to complete a transfer form giving us the account details of the other ISA(s) and we’ll do the rest.0 -
Slight concern - I'm over the £85K with Barclays now, until next year when my other Barclays 2 year ISA matures.
I fully appreciate you are chasing the rates evanasus and you will only lose the bit over the 85K of course, my wife and I chase the rates too, but remember no institution is too big to fail.
I appreciate that it is unlikely to happen with Barclays (famous last words).
Ideally though try to resolve this at maturity and remember you can 'part-transfer' an ISA (after maturity) which may be useful to 'split your funds' which we both did last year. Also remember ISA rules say you can open multiple ISA's even in a single financial year to transfer your money into them, aslong as you only deposit NEW cash into one single ISA.
I'm sure you will realise this and I am only mentioning it just in case.
I hope that helps.0 -

I think you are still missing the point.
You are talking about completing paper and downloaded transfer forms, which as you say all require signature and date.
evanasus is attempting an online transfer, using Barclays online transfer process, i.e. no downloading or printing or signing forms involved.
I haven't experienced any online ISA transfers myself, but assume that as evanasus is already a Barclays customer, they are satisfied that her transfer application is genuine because she had to apply through online banking which she has been able to access only after entering various security details.0 -
I tried the Live Chat yesterday - not much use.
Then I tried a representative on Twitter (only tweet to things like this) who wasn't sure but gave me a number to ring this morning.
I rang a while ago and spoke to someone in the UK, (phew) who knew what they were doing.
They arranged the details of the transfer over the phone and told me they would make sure it wasn't transferred until after the maturity date.
All being well it should be sorted. (insert crossed fingers smiley)

Glad you got it sorted.
It would have been useful to have confirmation that the option to enter a 'not before' date appears at a later stage in the process though :cool:0 -

Yes, note though you have gone through your 'existing' banks security process instead, whether it be a login to an account online or via answering the security questions over the phone... Much better than a signature.
In most cases though on opening a new ISA application say with Leeds BS (or other financial institution) will mean those things are often are not in place nor can they be verified simply because the ISA application has to be processed ... Hence the transfer form needs a signature ... Still not ideal in my view (from a security perspective) but better than no signature at all.
All I can add is my own experience of transfers over the years... I am yet to encounter one without a signature on the form myself.
I have no doubt some must exist though, because I have seen others mention it on this forum.0 -

Yes that must be it, but the form I did last year (through online banking using pin sentry login) did still ask me for a signature and to print it and send it off to the Leicester address I posted above.
Anyhow it must be the case that if you are an existing customer at the NEW financial institution they will accept the form nowadays without a signature ... Which they pass to the old provider who accepts their word rather than being able to verify the request themselves.
Sounds open to abuse, but that's probably me overthinking the procedure.
Anyhow glad to have got this resolved... Thank you to those who helped me out here.0 -

I'm only about £3k over but I just couldn't push myself to start opening an account with an institution I'd be new to.
I'm close to the limit on other institutions, as any savings other than ISAs are in my name. My husband just comes into the 40% tax rate still.0 -

Electronic transfer of cash ISAs is fairly new, and providers seem slow to take part.

I'll be testing nationwide's online transfer process shortly, I'll report back if anyone is interested.0 -

I seem to recall that the process failed when using Firefox (my preferred browser) but worked OK using Internet Explorer.
Not instantaneous, took a few days, but worked as expected, a small amount of interest was credited to the closing account.0
