The reg number was entered in the store but a parking charge notice was still received. There is also a receipt for a store purchase.
Should I contact Aldi to explain that it was a genuine visit to their store and can they cancel it? If they don't then that will have been my final visit to Aldi.
If they don't cancel it I will send the appeal to parking eye as per the newbie thread but from someone's post on another thread they said mitigating circumstances or a "story" aren't relevant to Parking eye or popla and could make things worse.......

appeal to PE anyway, using the template, dont wait for cancellations from anyone else
you can use mitigation or bank statements or receipts with the landowner and PE, so use them if you have them, to try to gain a cancellation
dont admit who was driving however
its popla where mitigation does not count
so a 2 pronged attack, a PE appeal with copies of receipts or bank statements, and a complaint to aldi with copies of receipts or bank statements - DO BOTH
if no cancellation happens, then its a proper popla appeal, (without mitigation)0 -
If a wrong reg was entered then they experienced no loss and are highly unlikely to win a claim, if the machine was at fault, ditto with knobs on.
Neither is a mitigating circumstance. If Aldi has a Facebook page, be sure to write on it appropriately. I recently made a very significant mistake on a driving licence application. Polite letter from DVLA, apology from me, sorted. You never know how far you can go until you go too far.0 -

Thanks very much I'm ready to send it off! Can I please check this bit from the template though:
"I hereby give notice of withdrawal from this alleged 'contract' which was never properly offered by you and certainly was not expressly agreed."
I'm adding mitigation under the main grounds (lettered a-e) about the reg number being entered on the machine in the store but does that contradict the template or suggest agreement? If it's ok to keep the mitigation in then I'll leave it in there.0 -
If you're adding a point about the reg no., make sure it doesn't identify you as the driver.
"x) The driver confirms that the vehicle registration mark was entered into the machine in-store, in compliance with the stated requirements for free parking. Therefore there has been a failure with the machine or the recording system, rather than a failure on the part of the driver, so this PCN has no foundation."0 -
Sent the appeal to PE online and was presented with this after submitting:
We endeavour to respond to all appeals as soon as possible. Whilst we consider an appeal the parking charge amount will not increase. Please note that a full written response may take up to 14 days.
Nothing has been received for over 14 days... if I need to do anything please let me know.0 -
The limit in the BPA Code of Practice is 35 days, so I'd keep quiet until that deadline has passed. After that, you can then write stating that you consider the matter closed.Je Suis Cecil.0

They rejected the appeal and sent a complex multi page letter full of !!!!. They completely ignored the template from here and the till receipt
I visited the ALDI store today and spoke with the manager to get an explanation of all the legal arguments in the letter. He cancelled the ticket and apologised for the behaviour of PE which he will flag to the area manager. He said they should have accepted the appeal if the receipt was provided.
Just realised I forgot to enter the reg number in the store when I went back to see the manager... get ready for round 2 lol :rotfl:0 -
The company consistencies are crazy.. there are a few ALDI near me and NONE of them even have managed car parks..0
