I had a similar issue only in my case the default was listed for charges that should not have been on my account. As it was holding up a mortgage application at the time I had no choice but to settle (So it at least showed as settled) and intended to lodge a formal complaint afterwards. When I made the complaint Vodafone conveniently could not trace my account.
It would appear that they are able to confirm to a CRA the default is correct when I challenge it via the CRA but they cannot trace my account when I contact them direct to follow their formal complaint procedures.
In my case there was no way to resolve/correct the situation and I suspect that you may be in a similar position.
Sorry I cannot offer any hope but, in my experience, Vodafone appear to have no hesitation in shafting their customers and are adept at avoiding any comeback.0 -
Hi Guys,
This does seem to be a running trend with Vodafone, conveniently they 'cannot trace' customer's accounts. My sister had a contract fradulently set up in her name and against her account and even though it was still running, they refused to help and said that they had no record of her or her payments.
She contacted her bank and they refunded all payments made and dealt with the dispute with Vodafone, i imagine they were successful as she has not heard anything since.
If i were you, I would not accept their response in terms of 'they cannot trace' - provide evidence, such as a bill, confirming your account with them and as much info as possible and send it over to them. (preferably a photocopy..just in case they conveniently 'cannot trace' your post either)
If you still do not receive a satisfactory response, send a detailed summary of your issue (in form of an official complaint) and also all details of the amount of times you have tried to contact them. Also refer to the action you would like taken (default removed) and explain why this was a Vodafone error that it occurred in the first place. Again, any information to support this will be extremely helpful.
Send all of the above to their governing body:
Address:
Ombudsman Services Communications
PO Box 730
Warrington
WA4 6HL
They will independently review your concerns and contact Vodafone appropriately.
Please PLEASE don't accept the bull that Vodafone feeds you and give up at the first hurdle. Persist as far as you can. It might be time consuming and frustrating, but the service you have received from them is unacceptable and they need to address this. Your credit rating is worth the effort.
Hope this helps!0 -
If you've exhausted the usual complaint routes, I'd suggest these methods:
There is an official Vodafone representative on this board. Try contacting this person through the link I've embedded.
Another method is outlined in this post.
The final method is through the CEO feedback page on Vodafone's website.0 -

I'm also having this problem with Vodafone! Received my credit file to see a default at an old address for an old account which I had closed. Default is a very small amount as when I contacted Vodafone to get it resolved and see could this be removed I also was met with they cannot find my account and that is illegal to remove a default.
Can anyone help me as it is seriously affecting my mortgage application.0 -

Looks like i will also be using the link- been trying to get a mortgage and found a default on my account from 2009 which i don't agree should be there as i had closed my account due to being abroad.
Got no joy after more than 5 phone calls was just told they can't see my account, but they can't remove the default and they don't have access to say what the £195 of the default was for. .. so in order to resolve for the mortgage applications sake I kept ringing them until they managed to find me on the system to let me pay the debt and note almost a month later they haven't updated the credit agencies to show it is paid!
When I rang this week so see why every month has had an update to the agencies saying the balance was still outstanding except the month I paid it they couldn't find the account again and so can't tell me.
Once of the most poorly organised companies i have ever had to deal with. Wish i had sick to my guns and refused to pay since the default is 6 years old in 5 months time anyway!0 -

Hi binerds81,
I replied to your email last week.
As promised, I'll come back to you as soon as I have an update.rizla_king wrote: »How about not shafting people's credit files unfairly in the first place?
Hi rizla king,
We're required to record a true reflection of the payment history of our customers with the credit reference agencies.
This is covered under clause 14 of our Pay monthly airtime conditions.
