thanks for help guys, Yes I look into dealing with it on pay pal. He must have paid me as a gift as there was a small fee taken off the 100 quid.

Do as Rev says, open an SNAD on Paypal now. Don't waffle too much, don't complicate matters. Just explain it didn't come with the software it was advertised as. Explain it is in the exact condition it was delivered in.

They will tell you to return it (tracked). Do what they say when they say. Keep to the deadlines. Idiots like this seller need to be taught that misuse of the system can work both ways.

If this seller is determined to be a PITA then I think your chances of a hassle free return are diminished somewhat.

The seller might THEN complain of damage upon return. He could refuse to sign for it for example. If this happens, the machine could get returned to you. Will you then try sending again, begging further courier losses?

On an authorised return where an eBay or paypal case is open buyer only needs to show an attempt at delivery. So if seller refuses to sign for it, the parcel will go back to the buyer and buyer will get the refund anyway.

I think you need to familiarise yourself with Paypal rules. As Soo says only attempted delivery need be proven.
Any further courier losses will be incurred by the seller if he wants his item back.
