Flight delay Thomson - extraordinary circumstances

We travelled with Thomson to Gran Canaria five years ago and I contacted them in April 2013 with regard to compensation which was declined due to extraordinary circumstances. In view of the new court ruling after watching Martin Lewis on TV, I resurrected the claim and it has now been agreed that we should be compensated 400 Euro's per person. They sent the cheque a month ago to our old address which was very clever of them considering I highlighted the fact that we had moved in my most recent letter and I'm still waiting for the cheque! I'm not being greedy because we are happy that we will be compensated, even though we would rather have not lost 24 hours of our holiday but due to the exchange rate now, the compensation in £'s is not that great. Do I have a case that the exchange rate would have been better had they paid two year's ago when I originally claimed or should I just be grateful that I'm getting anything at all?
