All of the above is correct - they can't physically book you onto the flight until around 320 days prior to departure. Some Tour Operators will take your money, and book your accommodation and promise to book you the flights when they are ready. I'd personally hold off until December time, when they are quiet, and get it booked then - you shouldn't have any problems with flight & hotel availability (especially if early December). Where you staying? Let me guess - Shangri-La & The Datai?!0

What are the perks with Virgin then?
I've flown long haul with both Virgin and Malaysian Airlines and MA beat V hands down every time. The staff are sooooo polite, food is great and legroom is one of the biggest in the L/H market.
Seat pitch is 34" and each person has a seat back TV with loads of English speaking films/TV/radio etc.
Biggest difference between the 2 airlines is that Malaysian act as if they're grateful you're flying with them .. Virgin have yet to do that on my flights!
Best wishes for a very happy wedding and honeymoon and future.Ken Livingstone is my mother0 -

I think the OP means Virgin Holidays - Virgin don't fly to Malaysia.
But you're right about all the above, Malaysian are a good airline to fly, especially if your 6ft5!
Edit: Don't think that Virgin are the only ones with the 'perks' - honeymoon upgrades, etc, most specialists have them. In fact, Virgin can often be more expensive as they have to build in Travel Agent Commission to their prices. By all means get a quotation from them, but make sure you compare against someone else - you might be surprised by how much money you can save!0 -
Hayes and Jarvis are taking bookings for next Decembertravelover0

No, mandarin oriental & Tanjung Rhu ! unless you suggest otherwise !!!0 -

Mmm, i'm never a fan of All Inclusives in the Far East - half the enjoyment for me is visiting local restaurants and bars, so i'm automatically biased against the Tanjung Rhu. Also The Datai has a nicer beach (imo), and is more 'honeymooner' than Tanjung Rhu which does attract it's share of families.
You can't go wrong with the Mandarin Oriental, but alternatives might include Ritz-Carlton for opulence, i've heard great things about the Hotel Maya, and if you're looking for something a bit different, Carcosa Sei Negara is a bit of the way out of town, but a fabold governers building - a change from city centre highrises! Either way, you'll have a fab honeymoon.0 -
Hi there, myself and my fiance are also going to Malaysia in 08 for our honeymoon.
We're heading to Penang and Sabah in Borneo though.
So far we are looking to book possibly through:
eTours http://www.etours-online.com/
Lee's Travel http://www.leestravel.com/holiday/
With eTours giving us the best options.
We want to splash out and fly business class having just flown economy to Thailand with Qatar, the legroom was terrible and it left us tired for the first few days.
Unfortunately, MAS is incredibly expensive for business class, so we are looking at either Emirates or Qatar, but Emirates seat pitch looks a little rubbish.
Anyways, good luck and I hope those links help.
PS - not sure if you have been before, if you haven't make sure you try char kway teow (http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Char_kway_teow), ter tarik, durian and sambal balachan while you are out there.0 -
Hi, online companies are good but the actual brokers that the agents use to book are even cheaper try contacting them for a quote they cover most places in the East http://www.toureast.net:whistle:

Not actually true - Lees Travel & Emerald (etours) both contract the hotels directly as opposed to using a broker, as do most large Tour Operators.
Tour East (who are fab) are used to provide transfers, representation, tours, and book hotels which the Tour Operators chooses not to contract directly. Whether the overall trip is cheaper or more expensive entirely depends on the overall mark-up.0
