PPI moron here - can anyone help?

Options
After much deliberation I decided to do my PPI claims myself. I have submitted over 20 claims as I have had many credit cards/finance/mortgages over the years. I have now heard from each and every one of them basically just saying "we've searched our records and we have no evidence of you ever having PPI".

I have no paperwork and only a few policy numbers but I would have thought that at least one of them would have been a positive response. What I want to know is what to do next. Should I ask them for a copy of my agreement? Has anyone else had this problem? All I seem to hear are stories of people writing one letter and within a week receiving a cheque for £10 million pounds! (ok slight exaggeration but you get my drift) ;)

Why? If you always said no to it then it would not be added.

If you dont believe them, then you pay £10 with each provider and do a data subject access request. However, that could be costly if there are many lenders.
Should I ask them for a copy of my agreement?

You have no statutory right for a copy of the agreement once the debt is repaid and closed. You are only able to get a copy if they still have one and you pay your £10.

Complaint ratios are about 50/50 even where the person has PPI. About half of complaints made by people dont have PPI.

noddle.co.uk will only have details of the last 6 years and it doesn't show if you paid PPI, at best you might get the lender and maybe an account number

So basically you have falsely accused over 20 different companies of misselling you PPI that never existed?

Might I politely suggest you try working some overtime or getting a second job if you need money instead of wasting people's time by making frivolous complaints about events that never happened!!!

What a nasty reply to someone who is just trying to find out if they paid PPI on various policies etc. over the years. How are you supposed to remember whether or not you paid PPI, especially on so many things? Think before you post.

You posted that you sent in "20 claims" to these companies - the way that reads is that you put in a miss-sale complaint to every company you ever used.

If you mean you spoke to 20 companies and asked them if you had PPI, then that would have been clearer in the first post what you meant.

Why don't you think before you post?

The term "PPI claim" is used by the uninitiated to mean a complaint of misselling of PPI. The OP stated that they had put in PPI "claims" (I.e. Complaints of misselling) to 20 odd providers, all of whom had replied that the OP had never had PPI with them. If you are unsure whether you ever had PPI then maybe best to ask before making frivolous complaints.

So I stick by my earlier post. If you genuinely think this kind of behaviour is acceptable then it beggars belief!!!

Other than the fact that Littlewren wasn't the OP (unless under an alternative user name) this is the correct answer!!!
  • Hi,

First post so forgive me if I am out of line. 20 letters to 20 companies seems a bit extreme.

I had been pestered like everyone else over PPI for a number of months, it may have even been years, when I think on it now, about signing up with a claims firm and seriously thought about doing it myself, but I work for a local authority as a council tax employee and have never found the time and the idea of then handing over at least 20 to 30% as a fee was annoying.

Anyway we deal with all sorts of issues around council tax claims. in February of this year I dealt with a client who had Council Tax problems and in the interview we got talking about PPI and claims and fees, she advised that she dealt with a company in November of last year that charged a fixed fee of £100 and did not charge any percentage for a PPI claim.

I told her it was probably some type of scam, but she had been referred from her local CAB and she did receive a PPI settlement and in fact she was only charged £100 plus an additional £10 for other paperwork. So she gave me their details, I spoke with the CAB as we deal with them daily and they confirmed the story. The company was called weber wolf.

Anyway I check them out they were licensed by the Ministry Of Justice as a claims Co and had been trading for a few years. I joined up in mid January and got a settlement cheque last Thursday of just over £2318. They were true to their word, it cost me £110 in total.

I know I could have probably done this myself. I don't know of any other claims firm with a fixed fee. Anyway hope this post helps.

    Aleck.

Nice one. You paid someone £110 to stick a stamp on an envelope and put it in a post box!
