Reclaiming PPI post IVA

I was in an IVA which finished in January 2014.
Previously I had at least 2 credit cards with PPI on them (Halifax and MBNA)
Do I have any chance of reclaiming this, or would it be mopped up to my IVA?
Thanks

Depends on exactly what it is you agreed to when you signed up to the IVA and the attitude of the insolvency practicioner concerned.
You need to look at the exact details of your agreement.0 -

It wasn't mentioned as far as I'm aware - I don't ever remembering discussing PPI with them.
Thanks

There are cases on this forum of the unpaid debt having the PPI set off against (with you getting anything left) and others where you get the lot (after appeal sometimes).
You can still do it, no-one can predict what you will get, morally the unpaid debt being cleared by your PPI reclaim (assuming they accept it was miss-sold) is a good thing but sometimes the world doesn't work that way.Sam Vimes' Boots Theory of Socioeconomic Unfairness:

A rich man buys $50 boots that are made better and give him 10 years of dry feet. The poor man has spent $100 over those 10 years and still has wet feet.

If your IVA completed in 2014 I am guessing it commenced in about 2009. That would have been prior to PPI becoming a big issue and hence your IVA probably would not have said anything specific about it. That said, in certain circumstances your IP may consider that they have a claim to any pre-insolvency assets (which included redress in respect of alleged misselling prior to the IVA) regardless. If you are thinking of making a PPI complaint you should speak to them and ask their position.
Do be aware that you need to have grounds for complaint, it s not just a matter of being able to reclaim the money. There are also differing views regards whether they can or can't offset any redress you may be offered. So even if you made a successful complaint does not guarantee you would receive anything.0 -
It was actually January 2007 it started, finishing in April 2012, I found the emails earlier.
If it is going to be too hard work I'll probably leave it as I've got enough on with other stuff at present. Particularly if there's a chance it will get swallowed up by the IVA.
Thanks

I would try it anyway, the form isn't hard to complete and you might get the money anyway (or even the interest element) - all you need is a valid complaint reason and send off the form, for the price of a stamp it could net you some £ or improve your credit recordSam Vimes' Boots Theory of Socioeconomic Unfairness:

Thanks.
OK, what sort of valid complaint reasons are there?
It's so long ago that I can't remember - I know I must have got my MBNA card in approx 2000-2001 and my Halifax was before that I'm sure.

Incidentally I was paying £270pm for around £16k of debt so the repayments practically covered by debt. Obviously there are IP fees and I believe stat interest to add to make a 100% repayment - obviously no idea what I've paid in PPI over the years but I know MBNA and Halifax made the bulk of the £16k which had PPI on it.
Thanks
