Your other option is to try a bit further out of the city. This place is a good 7 miles out of the city but there is a night bus every hour that runs along Aigburth Vale (82N) which is a short walk from there (may be a long walk if you have had a few sherberts though!) Innkeeper's Lodge Liverpool, 531 Aigburth Road, Liverpool, L19 9DN Tel: 0845 11 26 0240

Try this hotel - very cool.
Another nice hotel:

Also, if you can't find anywhere in Liverpool, try over the water in Wirral. It's very easy to get over to Liverpool on the train/bus/taxi.0 -
Hope Street hotel is gorgeous but its a bit pricey. Didn't know there was a hotel on Parr Street, is it above the recording studios?0

Yes it is above the recording studios. I have an old colleague who works there.
I know people don't like the idea of recommending Hotel Formule 1 but the OP states he was on a budget and recommending expensive hotels is going to be out of their budget, which was £90 between the 3 of them. Remember, it is a stag weekend they are going on, it does not have to be luxurious!0 -

Being on a budget is one thing. Ending up in a filthy hole with no proper locks on the doors and noise like a bear garden is another. This place is unacceptable no matter how cheap.
I have stayed at a couple of Formule 1 in France at a push, and they have been fine for the money.0
