Follow the refresh instructions; data is unaffected; programs you have installed will need to be reinstalled (e.g. Firefox browser although I think you use Internet Explorer;)
Read the instructions first.
EDIT: if you have any important data, ensure it is backed up first.
EDIT2: also see the warning "If you upgraded your PC from Windows 8 to Windows 8.1"If you put your general location in your Profile, somebody here may be able to come and help you.0 -
Thank you all for your valuable advice, I didn't take laptop to PCW.
With your help and advice I did a windows restore ( I THINK) anyway it did the job as all is running much better now, I did have to re-install a few things but nothing important, although the fan is still running most of the time.
Great advice from this site.

have you got a load of dust in the air vents making the laptop overheat?
Do you use it on a carpet,bed,or lap?0
