    I've got an e11 1.6 auto.

Does about 31mpg commuting, over 40 if I can get the speed upto 50, when the gearbox goes into lockup.

    Pros:
Comfortable, nice high driving position, good engine & gearbox, electrics not too bad for a modern car, apart from the wires snap off to the rear wiper if you open the tailgate too often, wide tailgate where it counts: at the bottom, mine transports mountain bikes or a washing machine easily.

    Cons:
Tricky to park, as the front wheels don't turn very much, prone to noisy suspension, broken springs & vibration on braking. Fan belt goes squeaky every 3 months.

Check the rear bumper for signs of repair.
I want to go back to The Olden Days, when every single thing that I can think of was better.....

(except air quality and Medical Science ;))

Its a Renault Modus with a Nissan badge stuck on the back.
You are not buying "Japanese readability" you are buying a French car, with a French c23 Automatic gearbox first used in a Citroen Dyane which is rebadged CVT and is the old variable drive system from the stone ages ford and other makers dumped and for a very good reason.

It will run until 80,000 ish and enter self destruct empty the bank account mode.

A UK spec 1.6 has a reliable Japanese 4 speed auto, and a reliable Nissan engine from 15 years ago.

I got caught by the Renault thing, I thought I was buying Japanese quality, turns out I bought British build quality, and French components, but at least a Japanese power unit.
The renault thing isn't a secret, just not publicised until you really do your homework.;)

If he is saying the CVT, its the Renault set up, CVT are for cars without enough torque to drive a traditional auto box and a bad make do worst of all worlds as you sit listening to the engine revving its nuts of trying to get the cvt to move.

Mother in Laws friend has a late 2014 Juke 1.6 auto and its dire.

Infact, most modern CVT/DSG/flippy-flappy paddle autos are crap and dim witted. What happened to a "propper" autos?

Best auto's were BMW 1997-2003 and the Vauxhall box 1996 onwards.

    It's a good car.

My parents have had the 1.6 auto for almost 5 years and apart from a leaky tailgate (water coming in through the high level brake light I think), it has been faultless.
