Saturday/Sunday 18th/19th April - What small DFW things will you do today?

When we start out on the DFW trail we do loads of "big stuff" that makes quite a difference to our situation. These include having our lightbulb moment, cutting up the credit cards and cancelling Sky and the gym
But once we have done the bigger stuff, we often feel that we are not making the same amount of progress, when in fact the small steps are helping us form good financial habits and helping us get closer everyday to staying in control and becoming debt free, or staying debt free.
Examples could be hanging washing out instead of using the tumble dryer or leaving your purse/wallet at home to avoid the risk of spending.
So be proud of those small steps, they really are important:money:

Good morning party people!
I hope everyone is well today. The weather is gorgeous here in the NW.
I've been a busy bee already this morning:- Watered all the plants and fed the ones that need it
- Hung washing out (unfortunately everything covered in cut hair  courtesy of OH)
- Changed towels and dirty ones in the wash
- Popped some YS tomatoes that I spotted last night into the oven to roast. Will make soup. - soup done
- B/L/D from stores (unless OH is itching to go out) - done
- CROCHET (finished one piece last night. I WILL make another piece today - please shout at me if I confess to not doing it) - yes! Done a piece!
- Make bread
- Hoover round the house - done
- Nip to the shop for some sort of ant killer (I'm usually a fan of leaving things be in the garden but they are nesting in my pots
) - done
- Probably cut the grass - done
- Devise a collar for one of my primroses. I think that next door's cat has been sitting on or walking over it as it's totally flattened. - primrose is dead. Have removed
- Log calories in free app. Have started to get into the swing of this again. Just need to stabilise my eating at sensible levels again (and so my weight - it was creeping up) - done
- Skim over a new car insurance quote - done. Not too bad
Have a good one all

Morning Carrie
Thanks for starting the thread. I am grateful of a lie in today and chance to go and buy my new bike. There are a couple I am looking at neither very expensive. Hopefully I can start next week with more confidence of making the school run on time. This should mean saving a few £s for the days I was forced to take a bus to be in time.
I didn't get chance to post yesterday evening but yesterday was also extremely busy at work. Took over £200 again. It was a huge lunch rush this time that did it. Almost unmanageable for one person. Had 1 table where I wasn't happy with the service they'd had, although they didn't complain, so I gave them a round of coffees on the house which they accepted. So compared to the cost of a helper I'm still pleased with that. The week closed £150 higher than my previous best week (not last!!) Since we reopened. So over the 5 weeks it's sort of ambled up and down as a trend so far. But seriously how can a business have a day were it takes £30 & one at £230 a week apart??? This has always been the problem with my location. Feast or famine. Something to continue to brood on. In any case I ended up with surplus for the first time I can ever remember even when takings were a lot higher. So I bought us a juicer/blender, some packaging I needed to bulk buy to get cheaper, some new espresso cups, & a few other bits. Which felt amazing.
Husband did cut the lawn this week and it looks lovely out there so may try and spend some time weeding and tidying up over this weekend.
Worked out we are only 2 months away from hitting our emergency fund now which feels good. It's been a wobbly road rather than saving and managing to keep it in there, but life has a way of getting in the way of my plans
Right probably time to go and get up!

Although I have been reading recently, I need to crawl back to join you with my tail between my legs.
Please forgive me - for I have sinned. DH & I traded in some of his redundancy and his car last week for a motorhome. Life is too short and it's a dream come true for us so I really, really need to get back on the wagon.
So today will be a tidy up / money saving day.
Plans for today
Phone call to friend whose Mum has just been taken into hospice
Call to insurance company for motorhome (which is nameless as yet) as they need to speak to us urgently
Print off No Claims Discount confirmation for said insurance company and get ready to post
Print off confirmation that suite was paid off in full this week
Cut grass (following poo patrol)
Clean out fridge in motorhome again (bit smelly)
Tidy house
Ironing mountain
Get all washing up to date & hung out to dry
NSD
Check banks & go through all bills to total up how much we owe and how much we pay out each month as I really have taken my eye off the ball recently (told you this was a shameful post)
Dig out details of 2 declined PPI claims as received letters from Santander yesterday advising they are reviewing them again
Make risotto for tea with remains of chicken roasted on Thursday
Make soup with chicken carcass
Big list but some is already done and I need to get back on the wagon.
You don't mind if I come back do you?

Thanks Ziggy!!
Sorry Determined, we cross posted.
ClootiesMum - hope you enjoy the new motor home. Hopefully it will provide years ahead of free holiday accommodation so that is money saving in bulk." Your vibe attracts your tribe":D

Hey all,
Roasting here! I may have accidentally overspent at the shop. I did buy ant killer but also came away with a lovely ceramic bird feeder, bird seed, two packs of veg seeds and a pair of loppers
I have just spent 4 hours thinning the trees in the garden. Will probably spend 4 hours this evening tending a bonfire!
Bob - glad things are looking up

Afternoon all,
Thanks for the start CLF, you have been bsuy!
Dnm - sounds like you have a lovely day planned.
bob - great news :j
Ziggy, hope your weather stayed nice.
Clottiesmum, welcome back!
Todays a chill day for us but a few mse things...
Breakfast from stores
Parents freezer broke earlier in the week so we'd taken in their food, they had a new one delivered yesterday so we offered to take their food back and they then looked after the kids for an hour whilst we popped to the bank/opticiansHubbby used a voucher to get half price 2nd pair of glasses.
Free lunch at my mums
Tea mainly from stores but we picked up a few bits from Mr T's this morning whilst we were out to go with it.
Hung washing on the line
Checked sun perks/tcb/quidco/FPL
Evening entertainment will be a film night from our stashFollowing :money: to keep us debt free :j0 -
Afternoon all, lovely day again and dead jealous of your motorhome, Clootiesmum, enjoy your travels!
Today I have towels drying over the garden chairs, we don't have a washing line as, due to a severe caterpillar phobia I tumble dry everything indoors but I was treated 2 summers ago for it and, while I still don't want one of the boogers on me I'm way better than I used to be and the chairs are not near any plants.
Brunch was courtesy of the MrS cafe as DH got paid for last night's gig and was feeling flush. We also picked up his favourite chicken in madeira sauce for tonight for him and salami and cherry tomatoes to make a pasta sauce for myself and DS with some mascarpone that's been making itself at home in the fridge for several weeks now.
Middle stepson is playing a gig tonight, we should really go but DH is knackered from last night so maybe we'll play it by ear. My own son is off to an 18th birthday party tonight so will probably require lifts at either end of the evening which I don't mind. Another friend who is also going still has a vintage 70s white leather jacket he borrowed from DS over a year ago (it's actually a women's one, I had the same one in cream when I was about 12!) so I may try to engineer giving him a lift as an excuse to pick it up from his house.
I've just photographed a couple of things to put on ebay, nowhere near as much as I'd hoped but every little helps I suppose. I have a pair of Converse that DS has outgrown in the washing machine ready to go on too. We bought them second hand for £10 a few years ago so hopefully we may make the money back on them.
Why is it so much easier to spend money than to make it?
