I was one of those very pro breast feeding mums. :o

Glad my DD1 persevered as well, in fact she still is and Teeny is 16 months now. I did give up before then with all of my 3 shortest was 9 months because I couldn't get her to stop biting  and longest was 12 months. I had a difficult start with DD1 being in SCBU for 2 weeks but I was determined. Had a lot of help from lovely midwives. :A

It is the most natural thing and should not be discouraged, especially expectation of some that mothers should be shut away. I was asked beforehand by a relation not to breast feed 3 week old at a wedding. Did I take any notice did I hell, don't think anyone realised exactly what I was doing. Who would eat their meal in the toilets? It is not openly done enough and should be socially acceptable wherever you are!

Sorry didn't mean to rant. :o

I breastfed my son till he was 7 months o!d when he decided he was not going to continue, and we were on holiday in Belgium:eek: He decided he was not going to drink milk in any way shape or form, it is amazing what food you can hide milk in:D. I fed my daughter till she was 2. I always fed both of them in public, don't think anyone ever noticed!

You know what, that is fantastic weight gain for the first month, babies put on weight at different rates, health visitor has probably never had a baby if that is what she thinks!

My friend (the one with 6 kids) has a very tall and slim nearly 10 year old, she is taller than her nearly 11 year old, they weighed her at school and informed her she was borderline overweight and she is now paranoid about her stomach :mad: She is not overweight, she is tall, there is a difference.

I can understand them butting in if there is a real problem, but your daughter is doing fine and so is my mate.

How irresponsible! It saddens me that kids can't enjoy their childhood without added pressure on top :(

My mum was always told I was underweight and gave up feeding me but nothing changed when I went on the bottle except she got really bad mastitis.

I have such a tiny bone frame always weighed in "underweight" I was never a big eater but because of that over encouraged to eat more than I should so always had a bit of a tummy. :o

Of course I only have myself to blame for my shape now. :rotfl:

Afternoon gang ..can hardly write as I'm so angry, I really am...
DD1 took baby to be weighed today as she is a month old and has put on nearly two pounds more......started at 7.5 and now 10.12.
Health visitor said its not enough as she is only on the average line and as she put on a lot in the first 10 days she must be seen again in a week as quote "its not enough".
DD1 is duly upset as she has battled through a lot of sleepless nights and is doing a great job of breast feeding despite baby having a tongue tie.
Health visitor didn't even know how to refer for that and sent her away to do it herself !!!!!!
sorry for the rant but all alone here and just fuming xx

Sounds like your DD is doing a marvellous job. Baby's have growth spurts and so obviously don't follow the perfect lines in their red books  Putting on that much weight in a month she is doing something right. My DS1 put on 3lb in the 1st month and was told it was too much  Seems they have to have an opinion either way. Don't know why they can't just give some encouragement. It's a hard enough transition without extra stress.
I live and work in different catchments for midwives and health visitors and made a point of not telling mine what I do. Was scary to see what 'advice' I was given before they found out ;)

Sorry but if she's "on the average line" then isn't that good? As in average-the norm...

It's hard enough being a mum without someone making you worry unnecessarily!!
some professionals really make me cross....they are meant to encourage and support!

I will never forget the midwife when I had little man... She woke me In the night to tell me he was stiring and to try feeding him.... He was only wriggling... She then came back 5 minutes later to check he was feeding... He wasn't interested so she took all his clothing off down to his nappy saying he'd be more inclined to feed if he wasn't so snug and warm!!!!
I waited till she's disappeared and re dressed him, poor little thing wasn't hungry he wanted to sleep like I did:mad:

Problem is Wendy the health visitors these days are either kids themselves not mums or dried up old biddies that no man would touch. all they know about raising children is what they read in a book. all this poo about *average weight gain and silly lines* is poop.. no 2 children grow the same and these fools should learn that and realise that stressing out new mums with their no experianced drivvel is not good... your daughter is doing a fine job :)

That is an annoying one, I got all the candies first time but was way off the 280000  Don't think it took me too long though so you will soon defeat it :D

    I have defeated it :j:j:j :D

site is all squished for me so don't know if this will work......ring the lost line and block the card, I work on that line sometimes and they charge to add her to preference list (which you know is free) about £80 + ......if she can pass security they will send another straight away hth xx
You work for the Telephone privacy register?
Her bank offered to cancel the card and she refused saying she will sort it out when the paperwork TPR said they would send her arrives. Apparently they told her she has a 7 day cooling off period
Also refuses to give me or my sister (who lives with her but is out all day at work) her cards to look after
