It is sad the system works that way.
This is the opposite but have always felt sorry for their position.
My mum's friend well into her 80s limited income only basic pension, has a son with learning difficulties but not enough to be classed as disabled I think as they do not get benefits for him. He gets jobs doing leaflet distribution and paper rounds and is nearly 60. Takes him hours as he walks oddly.
Because he has always lived with his mum she does not get full council tax benefit and I guess must miss out on other help too. They have always really struggled.
Oh don't I've had a really sad insight into how others see my DS2 this week I won't lie, it shocked me a lot and made me realise what he's up against
BUT has made more determined to put a whole lot more into giving him whatever he needs to survive in the future. I've been onto CAMHS about some sessions for him so he can recognise things that are unacceptable. Because with the best will in the world he just nods and agrees with me. It's time he learned he has to tell someone when he's being treated in a way that's wrong.
I took the bullying stuff in my stride (at the time) But when I sat down and thought about it it, I cried my eyes out it really hurt that he thinks......accepts he can and should be treated in such a way
