Quiet day today. Was away working at Marathon over the weekend so a bit tired. Its my birthday today ( 61 ) so just been for a lovely birthday lunch with OH and DD and now a lovely afternoon with my feet up.
Can someone explain this new and old APG site to me?0 -
Does anyone know if I change a number to call from overseas by dropping the (44) and using (0) instead, will it then change it into a landline number ? Don't fancy 0845 at 8p per min so wanted to try changing the "from overseas number" Hope this male sense. Tia xx
The +44 is the dialling code for the uk from overseas. Changing it to 0 won't change it to a landline number.
Dialling 141 in from just withholds your number. That won't change it to a landline number either.
Usually, somewhere near the phone number will be a fax or alternative number that gives a proper dialling code. Have a look see if there is anything then try changing the 0845 bit to the dialling code and see if that works.

Yes, works no problems. I used to always do that for my bank.

I think that everyone, every time they are shopping in a supermarket in future, whether or not they are doing a targetted shop - and perhaps especially if they are not doing a targetted shop - would be well advised to assume that every multibuy 'deal' represents a more expensive price, even when buying the multibuy number, than some previous price.
I think this could well be the best general money-saving tip on groceries this year!
It certainly seems to apply to multibuys of the "any x for £y" type - it may not necessarily apply to all bogo"f"s (which Mr A don't do) - for example the 'normal' offer price for Flora Cuisine is £1 or 99p but a previous T bogo'f' - if you needed two - did represent a better price per unit. Of course the individual price then was not £1, but it was £1.70 - which did, if you bought two, represent a lower price for each than the usual offer price. Of course the individual price (compared to £1 offer) is, in that sense, "inflated" - hence why I now always put the "f" (for "free") in quotation marks as it is never actually totally free - besides having to buy the first item in order to qualify for the "free" second - the individual price is usually a bit more expensive in order to cover the cost of the second item - and notice I don't treat it as £1.70 and one free, instead I take it as, effectively, an 85p cost for each but that was a little better than usual 99p/£1 individual offer pricing.
Apart from the bogo'f's sometimes though - and definitely not to be assumed that they are always good - I think we should assume that every multibuy is a worse shelf price than before and remains such even when buying the multibuy number.
Rationale for assuming this especially when not doing a targetted shop is that, if you are doing a targetted shop, it is likely that you will be seeking to compare against a cheaper price elsewhere and that therefore that the price you'll be trying to compared to will be a better price than the multibuy deal. Making it very probable that that comparison will be better than the multibuy price.
So, especially if you aren't doing a targetted shop, always assume that a multibuy is a more expensive cost than the price was before.0 -

My credit card asked me to call them on the number on the back of the card. I saw an 0845 number and a number to call from overseas. I just used the overseas number from my mobile and got through no problem. What is this life if, full of care, we have no time to stand and stare0
