Credit ratings - mortgage?

Hello I need a little advice.
I have a fair credit rating. I have never missed any payments and all I have is my car on finance £4000. I always have paid everything on time etc, never been in a mess. My credit rating seems to be so bad because I have moved house, moved bank and bought my car recently. Is there anything I can do? It seems unfair I'm being penalised for moving house!
My partners is even worse. He seems to have no credit history! And we don't know how to rectify this because obviously he won't get credit! His is poor. Obviously moving house has impacted him too. We have had trouble getting his credit reports twice in the last year or so, because they seem unable to verify him. It's like he doesn't exist! His credit report also states he has one credit agreement but states a warning of ' you have no credit agreements'.
I was told to sign him up for sky. So we did six months ago and it hasn't made any impact!! Wast of money and bad advice!
We were hoping to go for a mortgage very soon. Iv had to put the brakes on and I'm feeling really down about it. We earn a good living have a great deposit and only my car as 'debt'.
Can someone please advice before I have no hair left on my head

A fair credit rating ? Lenders don't see your rating.
Stop focusing on if yours is fair and his is poor, its what's listed in credit history. There's numerous threads on here about improving ones credit history.0 -
Thanks for the response.
Agreed, There are lots of threads on here regarding credit ratings and how to improve them... I was just hoping for some specific advice rather than general. Most basically say electoral roll, don't miss payments, clear errors etc... We don't have these options as we don't have theses issues0 -

Credit card but pay it off in full.
How does he pay his mobile phone
Keep his bank account in the positive, don't go overdrawn.
Dont forget there's 2 other credit ref agencies, not all lenders etc report to all 3, some only 2 and some just 1.
It all takes time.0 -
Thanks his mobile phone is direct debit contract however this is in my name as he couldnt get the contract because of no credit history. I have just looked at credit rebuild Cards, they seem
A good idea, but applying for a credit card just before a mortgage seems like a bad idea? I don't know which is worse - no credit vs applying for credit!0 -
Most mortgage applications are assessed on more than just your credit report. What will matter is whether you can afford the mortgage, the value of the property and if you have a history of not paying your bills. Only the latter is on your credit report.
You can get mortgage advice from an advisor or broker. Many do what is called 'packaging'. They assess your application in house and then refer you to suitable lenders.0 -
Moving house has a short term effect just to confirm accounts are managed at the new address (not fraud). Are you on the electoral roll at your new address for all 3 CRA's? Electoral roll is a big indicator you live at the given address.0
