LG smart tv in room 1, Sky router/pc in another.
I can watch a fim on the pc fine, but with the tv I get stop/start/buffering. (Signal too weak ? - brick wall in between).
PC has no hdmi ports, only USB.
If I stick an ethernet cable in the router (2 spare ports - which one?) and run to the tv, willthis give a stronger signal ?
I assume a USB connection to the PC would be better ? (Its just that I have a 20 foot ethernet cable, but not a USB one)

A pair of Homeplugs would be a much neater solution than a visible 20 foot long ethernet cable. No, you don't want USB either.
Since you already have the ethernet cable, why not try it and see to ensure that the problem is the wi-fi signal? No free lunch, and no free laptop0
