Not sure which version of Outlook OP/OP's friend has but in Outlook 2013 (and I think 2010) go to Contacts, click File, Print and there are options to print the whole contacts database as either Card Style, Small Booklet, Medium Booklet, Memo Style or Phone Directory Style.

I'm using Outlook 2007 and it seems identical, and exactly what the OP requested.

    Another thought occurs to me.

If using Outlook and hotmail, then why not simply store her contacts in the outlook.com on-line contacts.

This link tell you how to import them from Outlook.

Then the OP will have access to them from anywhere they can sign in from any computer.
One by one the penguins are slowly stealing my sanity.

Better than nothing but I meant proper backups not just a few files to a USB drive.

I was simply responding to the OP's request.

Of course, ideally, you should be backing up everything (addresses, accounts, email messages, etc., but that wasn't what the OP was asking for.

Your original requirement is to be able to print and keep a hard copy of the contacts from Outlook/Hotmail.

This is only possible indirectly by using the export option in Outlook/Hotmail, which produces a csv file. You would then have to use another application, like Excel, Google Drive, Open Office or something to open the file and print from that application.

    Once logged into Outlook.com:
    1) Click on the App menu in the top left corner
    2) Click on People
    3) Click on the Manage button along the top, next to the New button
    4) In the menu, click on Export for Outlook.com and other services. This action will produce the csv file, which you can then save and open as a spreadsheet.

This method worked a treat. Just what she wanted...a comfort blanket. Thank you so much
