So I have £2,046 sitting on an interest-free credit card for the next couple of years. Going to try to pay it off entirely using sales from old [STRIKE]junk[/STRIKE] treasures in the garage / cupboards!

So far:

16th April - two Calor gas bottles £15 - leaving £2,031
17th April - Calor gas heater £20 - leaving £2,011

Got a few other things to go up, including a few job lots of old videos - thinking £7 for ten videos.

Setting myself the target of clearing the full £2,046 balance before the interest-free period runs out.

  • I am doing something similar! I will subscribe and you can keep me motivated. I have been doing it for about a month and anything that doesn't sell after a couple of times is going in a box for a car boot sale.

This is what I'm planning as well. Good luck to you too!

  • Good luck! Ebaying can get a bit addictive!

I would say though, sorry to be a downer but I wouldn't bother with the videos, I suspect you'd be wasting your time writing them up and packing them etc. Hardly anybody has a VCR player these days, they just don't sell. Even charity shops won't take them anymore.

Find you local Facebook for sale / car boot page. You can sell on there; no fees, local pick up - it's great. I have listed items and had them picked up within a couple of hours.

You may not achieve the price you would obtain via the wider audience of eBay, but you need to balance the amount you get with the fact you won't pay fees, won't have to post etc. etc.

Facebook is a great way of getting rid of those DVDs and even videos - I have had some, limited, success in shifting videos via Facebook. The ones I couldn't shift went to the dump.

  • This is what I am doing too. I'm averaging about £100 a week in on sales on EBay. Not too sure where is the best place to sell larger items like a garden table and chairs, sofa etc.

It isn't income though if you're selling off your own stuff is it? Its only if you're buying and selling for profit surely? I won't be able to keep on selling of course as I will run out of stuff but I ran up those credit card debts by spending too much!
