  • please steer away from any machine that has a silly low wattage PSU , ie: 170/190/230w , you will regret anything so small shortly after the 12m warranty

    Dell.
    Very good quality and affordable.

    Ignore Freddy

For what you are doing that's fine, there is no need to over spec. You'll just be wasting money on a PSU that's being used outside it's optimal efficiency window.

Another thought if you have the licence for word, etc could you not have them reloaded into the new one x

Yes I did this before, just reinstall the software and enter the product key.

I disagree, soolin take the above info at face value , the truth will come out very shortly after the warranty finishes , and you find you have a box , built with substandard parts , that are not "easily" interchangeable with standard ones"

the one thing that cannot be over spec , is a good PSU , a small or cheap/nasty PSU will come back to bite you.

as per my recommendation's , contact a local PC shop (non franchised) , explain what you NEED , not what the box sellers are telling you you need , and buy from them .

What version of MS Office (Word, Excel etc.) are you currently using?

Do you still have the install disc with the activation code? (Certificate of Authenticity).

    I have a Packard Bell, ixtreme M3720

Intel core TM 2 quad CPU Q8300 @ 2.50 GHz
    4.00 GB (3.75 GB Usable)
    64 Bit operating system

I'm running Windows 7 Home premium

    Is that the right info?

That's fine and should be ok for a bit yet, what we need to try to help you with is why the USB controller hub keeps vanishing on your current system without spending your way out of it.

First check if all your intel drivers are up to date here :

    https://downloadcenter.intel.com/

Download and run the intel driver update utility and install any latest drivers it recommends.

Go for customize PC, you can choose better quality components. But it will be more expensive.
