Parking Eye Leisure World Southampton

Last weekend we went to Southampton for 2 days as a treat for the kids, including Paulton's park. We had dinner at Frankie & Benny's at Leisure World. Now before we even went I searched for parking nearby and it pointed me at the car park and said free for Leisure World customers....

I get in today to find a £100 penalty letter thing from Parking Eye for not buying a ticket?! On the notice it mentions the signs clearly saying you had to put your registration in to a terminal but we saw no such notice (and certainly not clearly). I even had a quick scout round the front of Frankie & Benny's for any notices saying about parking but nothing.

I am so angry and we certainly won't be visiting there again. And £100? You have got to be joking! I can't remember the last time I had a ticket for anywhere, probably 20 years ago.

This has upset me so much I have asked the private parking appeals people to deal with it for me; but it shouldn't be needed. This is a disgusting way to run a "business".

its also been a "racket" for a year or three too

plenty of posts on here about this car park, especially as the DVLA were investigating it as "non-relevant land"

PPAL will sort it for you , but complain to the landowners too , plus fill in the government survey as well

If I knew who the landowners were; or where the government survey was then I certainly will! I have already complained to Frankie & Benny in case they have even the slightest bearing on who runs the contract, but I doubt it.

Just search this forum for government survey - you should be able to find it quite easily. :)

also search the forum for that car park, its been discussed extensively too (as I believe its a port so non-relevant land)

certainly a retailer should know who owns the land their restaurant sits on, or the managing agent
  • Thank you. I have found and completed the survey.

good , now put Leisure World Southampton into the search box and read the umpteen threads about it, including the fact its ABP
  • This is still ongoing....

I paid privateparkingappeals to take this on for me when this arrived; they put an appeal in for me which was refused (obviously).

They were they supposed to put in a POPLA appeal, but instead I've received a "Letter before court" claim letter saying as I didn't appeal to POPLA now I need to pay the £100 or they'll take me to court.

I'm desperately trying to sort this out; PrivateParkingAppeals are saying they put an appeal in and did I not get a confirmation email from POPLA? Well no, I didn't and I didn't know to expect one so didn't notice it was missing.

So much stress and upset for something I should never have had in the first place. I've asked privateparkingappeals whether I should just be paying the £100 now if no one can say whether the POPLA went through or not :-( I've only got til Monday before that time is up too. No idea if I should be leaving it to them to sort; writing myself now; paying or what.

Have you checked your email spam/junk folder? It may have gone into that. If not ....

    Telephone POPLA tomorrow.

If you look at the port plan it looks to be just outside.

Are a PPC not obliged to issue appeal results in writing, via post, irrespective of how the appeal was made?
