    Hi IvF,

As they won't let me pay by direct debit, the standing charges are much higher than they normally are for that tariff which makes it much worse.

macman - I'm pretty sure the meter reading have been provided - the landlord told me they had done so. My point was that it wasn't mentioned or asked for at all by the agent yesterday.

It's not the LL's job to read the meters, nor should you ever trust them, or an EA, to do so. Your account, your bill, your responsibility.
As soon as you start a switch, the sooner you can get onto a better tariff, because you are going to get nowhere with Eon unless you pay a deposit . Those are the terms they are offering, so if you don't like them, leave.

    Hi civil12345

Sorry about the difficulties when you contacted us yesterday. Our systems crashed and were down for a large part of the day. It looks like you've been speaking to our Home Moves team. They're limited to the options they can give once a credit check has been refused/failed.

As you've a credit meter and an active account, you can switch to any of our credit tariffs with the possible exception of Age UK Fixed 2 Year as this has age restrictions. If it's better, you don't have to talk to us as you can switch yourself online. Please be aware, apart from our standard tariff, most of the others are contracted products with exit fees. So, if you're going to switch suppliers, it's best to steer clear of these.

Monthly Direct Debit can also be set up online. These give lower standing charges. Similarly, you can opt in to receive E.ON Reward Points online too. These can be exchanged for either Tesco Clubcard points or High Street Shopping Vouchers.

As macman says, we're reliant on customers/agents/landlords letting us know when responsibility for properties changes hands. If the account has been started to actual meter readings there wouldn't be a need to discuss this unless a query's raised. If you've different readings for this time, though, we'll be happy to look into this for you.

Totally understand your unhappiness with such a poor experience so you're doing the right thing in going down the complaints route. One of our Resolution Managers will be in touch to go through what's happened.

Sorry again about the system failures yesterday and for the poor experience.

    Hi Malc,

Thanks for the response. I was actually on the phone complainting when you posted.

The information is the complete opposite of what I was told yesterday. I can have choice of tariffs. I can have choice of payment methods. I can be part of the rewards programme.

It seems like everything I was told yesterday was wrong. Small gesture of goodwill offered and accepted.

Now do I switch or not!

    Morning civil12345.

Glad all seems to be sorted now. Although our Home Moves team are limited in what they can do, they should've have given you a better steer than they did. Sorry about this.
