unknown payment from bank

If you worry about it, open a new bank account somewhere entirely different, move your money and close the old account.
You could consider switching, which could pay you up to £150. It will do the moving of money, DDs, SOs and payees list, and close your old account.0 -
There's actually a transaction for £0.00 on your statement? I'm not sure how that could happenEarly retired - 18th December 2014

From what I've observed myself I believe these £0.00 authorisations to BANK ONLINE AUTH USA show up in your list of pending transactions every time you use your card online and the "Verified by Visa" screen pops up asking for additional verification.
Typically a second authorisation shows up immediately afterwards with the amount you've just authorised and the merchant name.
A few days later the merchant transaction settles and the merchant authorisation turns into a transaction.
The £0.00 authorisation tends to hang around a few more days but will eventually drop because it never settles.
May well be the case that a similar authorisation process happens for pay at pump transactions - as I don't do these very often I haven't noticed.
Why it's done like this and why customer service can't explain this to you - no idea.0 -
I've had this too, not sure if you used Just Eat but it seems it could be them as lloyds FB page has a post on it from customers. I've used them and this pending transaction has come up, it's a verification security through visa. Hope this helps.0

An authorisation for £0 is usually for a retailer verifying a cardholder billing address and will therefore relate to a recent online or telephone purchase.0

It will not have shown on a statement - it will have been a pending transaction.
On Lloyds internet banking you have a tab on your account to show what these are and by double clicking it it will show the information the bank can see to determine what it is.
The bank is correct in that until a transaction is debited to an account they can't do anything about it.0 -
