In theory you're meant to spend 2% on defence as a minimum to stay in NATO. That's why the SNP declaration that they'll get rid of Trident is meaningless in budget terms as the money has to stay in the defence budget really. You can't spend the money on free milk for cats or equal brains for stupid people.
I think they have already argued that they would increase conventional spending (given control of it). After all they would need to build something in the bases to employ all the displaced civilians and affected local businesses.:)Few people are capable of expressing with equanimity opinions which differ from the prejudices of their social environment.
