Ants and council properties

Another council lie.
they are responsible for the upkeep of fixtures and fittings this includes the front and rear doors, windows, electrical sockets fuse boxes wiring wall mounted ventillation fans, plumbing, internal doors and frames (unless replaced by yourself then you assume responsibility) internal and external rendering and out buildings supplied with the property like brick sheds for e.g, roofing.
As for the Ants, then that's your problem unless they are nesting within the cavity of the house, then its the council who has to act to get into the cavity to remove it, same with bee's, wasps, and spider infestations caused by nesting in the cavity.0 -
I can't believe that I'm reading this. If the OP had a fly in the living room , presumably she/he would expect the Council to come round and put up a flypaper.
In any case, a few ants is not an infestation.. Some people really seem to expect to be spoon fed.
You want to try living in your own property and then see who you can call to fix every little problem, free of charge.I can afford anything that I want.
Just so long as I don't want much.0 -
Unless you're willing to live with the ants then you will need to get over your objections to killing a few of them. Suggest you try some of the sprays which dry on the surface so inedible by the cats or bait-stations where the bait is inaccessibly to cats.
You are making your own problem more difficult - I had the exactly same issue last week, £1 of ant powder and 5mins dusting it around the foundations and I haven't seen an ant since.

Bury a pot of jam in the garden and they will go for that instead0

BoP now interrupts for the hard of reading.
OP, a lovvie of fury animals, lives in no paradise and is infested by ants. Not akin to slaying them, or other deterrent, wants council to come round and fit new doors to their council flat. Others in parish has offered advice, such as powder, and other known methods to rid infestation. To no avail.
BoP now proffers his advice. OP, should at our expanse, get council to fit bell in W.C. Thus is so wet nurse can come round, at our expanse, and wipe their bitty when they cry.0 -

May I just add that ant powder is darned good at tackling carpet moth.
We looked at the expensive treatments for that, and then decided to use the ant powder. Glad we did.
P. S. Cats didn't eat it. Cats are smarter than some humans.0 -
Just makes me so grateful I don't have to work in a council housing office, if these are the sort of requests that are made. No sure that I've ever seen a door spec that is warranted to be 'ant-proof'.No free lunch, and no free laptop0

For now I have been sweeping up the ants into a dustpan and brush and placing them outside unharmed, but I can't keep doing that forever.
Is this a wind-up????"You were only supposed to blow the bl**dy doors off!!"0
