I took out my car insurance on the 28th March, to start on the 29th March. I posted the NCD form & copy of my driving license. I was away with work from 3rd April to 7th April. On returning I received a letter from them cancelling my insurance that night! No phone call, & no email, just a letter dated 31st March! t was too late to call them!
The next day they told me I would be charged £160 cancellation fee. And to make matters worse, I now have to declare I have had an insurance policy cancelled. I contacted my old insurer & asked could I take out insurance with them, but now with the cancelled policy I have to wait until Monday when they can speak to the underwriters.
I now have an uninsured car on the public road until Monday. They also have £800 of my money & can't tell me when I will get it refunded less their fee.

I changed my car in March and find One Call on price comparison site - they were not the cheapest but appeared to offer the best deal. I started the policy and set up payments. I also submitted my old Policy Schedule that listed my No Claims Discount specifically to their online portal. Admittedly they sent me 2 reminder letters, but there was a lot going on at the time and I didn't read them in time. The cancelled my policy and took £180 in cancellation fees! My annual policy was only £350! Total and utter scam, DO NOT USE THEM UNDER ANY CIRCUMSTANCES!

Were the cancellation fees listed in the policy docs? Let me guess - you didn't read them either.
