Asprea.....
The funny thing is about Asprea is that all the best intentions were there. The Fat cats and the big cheeses consolidated their thoughts and 'productive suggestions' to create a super claim company , which would isolate a tedious - disruptional service for the policy holder.
facts are since day dot this company has been the opposite - It was apparent then and still is now that the ideas were like fairytales and the numbers do not add up and to make it worse who ever was responsibile for creating asprea - jumped ship along time ago . laughing his boll**ks off.
Can it all be that bad??????
Imagine the worst ever dragons den episode - the management would be in pieces, throwing Bulls*it into the wind and hoping for a contract.... all four dragons would be urging their removal via the security guards , thats all of them except one. Norwich Union.
Arrgghh Norwich union and Asprea - Dream Team?????
yeah in your dreams team. Asprea and Norwich union are so disfunctional that mtv are thinking of signing them up for a fly on the wall show ....Its Crazy ... Asprea hate Norwich union, and NU who are Asprea's 'Boss' Dispise Asprea .. and despise is a harsh word , in real life this is enough to keep them apart , and would be here if it wasnt for the fact Norwich union Dont care about its customers and care only about revenue - profit - commision- profit - revenue.
the staff?
Hello... Thats me.
The staff feel for the policy holders, we're in a position where we appear to be able to make a difference and are in fact told to tell people that we will make a difference. The truth is we Dont do anything because we are unable to. The Management ( use that word lightly) , canot see past there huge desks.. They create a fantasy list of how they would like the company to run and as soon as they realise that animals cannot clean up all the mess they have created like in a disney movie- They simply Give up.
claims are not important , you can have a claim with us for a year and they do not care - if you ring 50 times in a day and we answer you 50 times , thats great news and they can sleep at night. If a Claim handler tells you they are going to help you , its because they want to , but truth is they wont be helping as its not required nor wanted of them by their managers.
In summary
if your insurance company tells you they are sending the detials to asprea , please get off the bus - cash settle - Move house .. Leave the country .
We have all heard the nightmare stories of independent companies and local lads who come round looking for a quick dollar by offering to clean your car , mow your lawn and fix your roof. Then will take their money and leave- doing none or doing them all really really badly.
Well we are those people and the only difference is , you cannot choose to say no thanks ... We have a contract - we are your insurance appointed surveyors and claim management company.
I guess i'll close by saying its ur choice ultimatly but i truley hope i dont hear your voice anytime soon...
A house filled with water as a result of a leak from a bath waste pipe .. You can choose to let the house continue to be filled by the water or call Norwich union and they will send out Asprea..
all i will say is -if it were my claim i'd be saying 'Pass me my swimming trunks .'0 -
Why can't Asprea put their contact details on the website, instead of a form that isn't actioned !??!!
A phone number and email address would be a good start, as would not bouncing emails to Carillion / Asprea staff ....
enquiries @ a bounced as did the individuals name - despite spelling correctly !!!0 -
Just a note for anyone who has the following phone number for Asprea
08456 580061
This number has nothing to do with Asprea and to my knowledge since September 2005 it never has. I know this as this is when I purchased this phone number for my company.
What I don't understand is why It has only been in the last 9 months that I have been receiving calls for Asprea. Have Asprea published this number as theirs somewhere?0 -
Hi
I started reading through these posts relating to Insurance Surveys and was confused at to what the company are doing.
I am a Surveyor and would like to pass on some help to the people who have issues with the Surveying practice of this company
There are 2 types of Surveyors. Those that are qualified and those that wish to be surveyors. There is an easy way to tell them appart.
The 2 Authorities that recorgnise Surveyors in this situation (House Surveys) are the:
Royal Institution of Chartered Surveyors RICS
and the
Chartered Institute of Builders. CIOB
Both have a very stringent qualification process and give their members a little card, like a credit card, showing that they are members of the organisation. If someone turns up at a house and is not willing to present this card then the liklyhood is that they are not surveyors at al.
If an Electrician or Gas fitter turned up to do some work and they were not qualified would you let them work in your property???
As there seems to be a level of confusion as to the types of people taking these surveys and then passing the work onto building companys . It seems prudent to ensure that the person taking the survey, know what the are doing.
Dont let people deal with financial matters unless you are sure that they are competant to do so.
Hope this helps

Don't know if there has been a culture change or I have just been lucky.
Just had a major claim involving asbestos removal, new ceilings, plumbing, decorating and electrical work managed by Asprea.
Couldn't have been easier, They kept me informed every step of the way, their contractors turned up on time, and have completed the work on time, and to a good standard. Their rep handling the claim has contacted me after each stage of the work to check that I am satisfied.
What more can I say?0 -
Wish I had read this before getting embroiled with Asprea. Appalling customer relations, no progress with our flooded basement six weeks into the claim and senior management uncontactable. I guess there are just too many angry customers to deal with! Why do Barclays continue to use them??? We are currently exhausting the Barclays complaints procedure but I strongly suspect we will have to take matters further. In the meantime heaven alone knows what is happening to the foundations of our house.
N.B. The 'leak detection service' does not detect leaks. Be warned.0 -
I'm no fan of asprea at all (quite the opposite), BUT this thread was started in august 2007 just after the worst flooding that affected the country in living memory, to say they will of been inundated is an understatement.
My company was heavily involved in flood repair works and our workload increased by a factor of 10 overnight! Needless to say we upset a few people, not because of poor work or not caring, purely because of the sheer amount of work and trying to help too many people at once (and yes I know we were getting paid for it- though I still have unpaid insurance bills from 2008)
As this is also a rant thread I can honestly say I have had the misfortune of meeting the most obnoxious, disgusting, dishonest, theiving scum in my life.
'my neighbour got a new kitchen so i'm f####ng getting one' etc- If the insurance won't pay then they'll make up lies about the contractor etc
Yes it was crap that they got their properties flooded and all the unhappiness that goes with sorting things out, but maintaining a level of self respect also went out the door.
DDThe advice I give on here is based on my many years in the preservation industry. I choose to remain anonymous, I have no desire to get work from anyone. No one can give 100% accurate advice on a forum if I get it wrong you'll get a sincere apology and that's all:D
Don't like what I have to say? Call me on 0800 KMA;)0 -
Asprea is closing down in Manchester. Norwich union have bought the contract and are letting all the staff GO, so to my friends there but , Thank Goodness , i worked there a couple of Years back and i have to say its shocking. The manager then , cannot name names, but since its ( st patricks day) big clue - was a Lemon. He ran the company from behind his desk and ran up major debts , covering his mess with Money. Shocking. Embarrassment to any profession.
Asprea dont know squat about customer service , we had meetings about meetings. We raised works orders for cancelled claims, We validated completed work and cancelled ongoing orders.
RIP asprea you embarrassment to the insurance world.0
