O/S Daily Tuesday 14th April 2015

This is an “over the garden fence” type thread where we chat about everything Old Style and maybe a little bit more. It’s a great, inspiring and motivating thread we start each day to discuss what Old Style things we’re going to do today or what we’ve achieved already. Everyone’s welcome, please do come in, put your feet up (although check the fence hasn’t just been painted first!) and join us for an Old Style natter. The more the merrier!

As this is the Old Style Board, it would be appreciated if posts could include some Old Style content. Please be aware that many people may have small screens, or SLOW internet connections, so please don’t post large pictures, or clip art – links are preferred. When you make a post, if you feel like giving it a title, that will help others that don’t have the time to read everything skim through the thread quickly but if not it's not a problem. Please do not start a new daily thread before you go to bed at night because this often leaves things confusing with two daily threads live at the same time. The idea is that a member would start each new daily thread after they get up in the morning.

Some people who chat here like to try to answer everyone. Don’t feel you have to though, a general “hi everyone, hope everyone’s well” is fine

    Morning everyone

Birthday wishes to those celebrating a birthday, hope you have a great day x

Hugs and get well wishes to those that want/need them.

Now light, light cloud but not so cold. Load of washing ready to go on the line, will do that shortly.

DH up and gone to work stupid early. DS1 now getting ready for work. Will wake DS2 shortly so he can get ready for school.

Dinner last night was an easy gammon, egg, new potatoes, peas and onion sauce. Tonight will be fish, chips and beans/veg for the menfolk. I’ll have fish, jacket potato and veg.

Work was as busy as I expected, we still have computer problems – they are supposed to be sorting those but we don’t know when that’s going to happen. This morning I’m going to my normal office not the one in the next town as we’re short staffed yet again.

    Keep safe and well x

    Good morning everyone.

Not that morning is very good here, more heavy rain already and firecast to get worse.

Anyway I'm off down to Glasgow for an overnight visit and want to head off in about an hour. Got a list of the big shops I need to go to.

Breakfast is porridge. Still trying to work out if its filling or not.

Hope everyone has a good Tuesday.

    Good morning everyone

I haven't opened the blinds yet so I'm not sure what kind of morning it is out there! It feels pleasantly warm in the house so I think we are in for a nice fine day. My community support lady will be arriving in an hour but I don't want to leave the house today so she will have to come in and have a cup of tea with me instead.

My sister came and picked up Milo yesterday and he was ecstatic when she came in, it was really sweet to watch. I wish there was a way of letting your pets know that they haven't left home for ever, it's just a holiday. Anyway. she's booked us for a long weekend the end of next month so we are all happy about that (except for the cat :D).

I ended up cooking chicken goujons last night for tea so the plaice has been bumped to tonight. I was so hot after cooking yesterday I didn't want to eat it which if you knew me would be very far-fetched :rotfl:. I will be looking for some lighter meals to cook while the weather is so warm.

The girls have gone off to school ok although my DD13 had a bit of a funny turn this morning and came in crying and feeling very shaky which isn't like her at all. She managed to do some deep breathing and eat some breakfast and then she felt a lot better. I think she is very succeptible to having low blood sugar as she doesn't eat very much all day and then comes home irritable and goes through the fridge like a dose of salts. Once she has eaten she is all sweetness and light, it's quite amazing how quickly her mood improves. I will have to make some more stuff the girls can have when they come home as we don't eat our main meal till my hubby comes home at 6ish.

Well, I hope everyone manages to have a great day whatever you are up to, take care xx

    Morning All

Wet and windy here so no washing outside (not got a whole load anyway). Managed to get everything nearly dried yesterday before the rain came on, all dried, ironed and put away, bedding back on the bed (and I ironed it).

Need to go shopping today, my friend from Oz is arriving this afternoon but she wants to go out for a curry - apparently the curries tend to be Thai based in Oz and she wants a 'real' curry!

Hoovered the stairs yesterday, wish the builder would hurry up getting the plasterer in, I'm fed up of bits of plaster falling off the walls all over the stairs. The chap arrived yesterday to disconnect the gas to the fire ready for the log burner, I really must move some stuff in the living room too.

Bought an outside storage box from b&q yesterday to keep some log type things in, it took me about an hour to put it together, so much for easy construction, all it had were pictures that said 'click' they forgot to put in 'shove', 'heave' and 'ow' for when it nipped my fingers!

Off for a shower, have a good day, take care. XX

LW, nice to see you, have fun with the labrador.
Hubby has been dropped at work, DGC's will be collected about 10ish, not sure who is coming probably 2 DGD's today, they are 4 & 7, then tomorrow it will be DGS who is 10.
With the girls it will be baking & sewing, probably a summer skirt each, with DGS it's a mooch round the charity shops.
My eye is a bit sore today, I'm thinking of buying a wooden leg & a parrot to sit on my shoulder.
I shall also try to fit in a bit of crochet, tea tonight is lamb with roasties & veg.
    Have a good day everyone.
    Hugs Hester
    Chin up, Titus out.
  • Good Morning everyone it's still quite foggy outside today, the fog horns on the river were booming out all through the night so I resorted to earplugs and got some sleep. It's due to clear and then we're expecting 18 or so degrees and sunshine. He Who Knows ctually asked if I thought we'd finished running the woodstove for this year which I think we have and he'll take the logs and kindling back up to the shed/woodstore until the autumn. Mind you he's already started making paper bricks as the polytunnel is warm enough to dry them. It's a cycle through the year running a stove isn't it?

We're meeting a friend for coffee this morning at one of the local garden centres and I'm looking forward to that very much indeed, then not much planned for the rest of the day so hopefully we'll get some garden time and enjoy the warmth.

Have yourselves a good one, Lyn xxx.
  • Morning (((((((((((((((((((((hugs)))))))))))))))))))))))) if you need one.

Thank you for all the messages about OH, I am going in this afternoon to see him. He us having an MRI scan at some point. I have found the letters I knew we had about the echo scan he had last year, so will take them in with me. DD2 is coming with me to the hospital.

    Off just now into town.

Trip postponed until tomorrow - far too much rain and wind and everything else!
