Hi Everyone,
Sadly I have only been able to be accepted for the Vanquish card (hoping to build a better credit rating).
I will be paying the balance each month, but was wondering how best to make it work for me.
Thanks
Suzanne

exactly so... use it regularly for things that you anyway buy (maybe petrol) and pay it in full each month.
This will show on your credit file as a properly run CC and you will pay no interest so the high APR wont matter.
Set up a DD to pay the full amount so you dont forget... check the first payment however to make sure the DD has been set up otherwise pay in the usual way.0 -
Thanks CLAPTON,
Has anyone any more tips on how to improve my credit?
Cheers Suzanne0 -
Also get a Aqua Credit Card, slightly less APR than Vanquis (not that it matters anyway as you will be paying it off each month) and use it to buy a few everyday bits & bobs as Clapton says.0

it rather depends upon why your credit rating is poor... you haven't told us your circumstances0

Hi, which cards have you been declined for?
Have you looked at Barclaycard's rebuild-credit-score card!
If you're a student, have a look at Barclaycard Student (graduate card also available)."Do not spoil what you have by desiring what you have not; but remember that what you now have was once among the things you only hoped for."

Hi everyone and a million thanks for your input.
Should I get an Aqua as well as vanquish?
I had debt about 8 years ago and could only get a Step a/c with Natwest.
All debt is paid and applied for Natwest card and was declined.
Have my Experian credit report which looks good, but it may be the associated addresses which have scuppered me!!!
Have not looked at Barclays, They are who I had debt with...... Not going there again.
Thanks again for all you help

Don't want to sound rude, but surely it's not their fault.Should I get an Aqua as well as vanquish?
Try to stick with one card for the meantime. There is no need to have more than one card at the moment. Then, once you have repaid in full your debt and have a good credit score, apply for a better cards. Maybe look into cash back on purchases and a card for better purchase protection for expensive goods."Do not spoil what you have by desiring what you have not; but remember that what you now have was once among the things you only hoped for."

Sorry Karl,
but it was their fault, I was living with boyfriend and they got me to sign for his debt, then continued to hassle family members by telephone.

Okay, I'm sorry, I didn't realise.
I am no lawyer, but why should you be accountable for his debt?"Do not spoil what you have by desiring what you have not; but remember that what you now have was once among the things you only hoped for."
