Sometimes. Sometimes they just go quiet and you never hear again.

If they continue to hassle you take it further.

    Good morning :)

Wescot have come back, didn't take them that long actually but it looks a bit like phishing to me? Maybe I'm just suspicious though. Either way, nothing provided that sheds any light on what this is about

So the answer from them is no we can not prove its your debt, but please provide us with information so we can turn the heat up by adding it to your credit file.

Again, if you are to reply at all then maybe adapt

Point out that you will not be providing a debt collector with private and personal information, but you will be reporting them to the FCA for chasing you for a debt they obviously never had any evidence at all that you owed.

That's pretty bad that a company can just do that

Thanks for the response, Fermi. There are two examples on there, not sure which one is applicable?

It's one letter with examples of what could be included. Not all parts will apply to all circumstances so you need to pick and choose and adapt to whatever makes sense in your case.

In the end it's just a starting point. Use as much or as little as makes sense. Or none at all if you feel it doesn't.

Keep an eye on your credit file. Noddle is free, Experian/Equifax is £2 for a statutory report.

It's sounding like you share some features with another debtor.

I probably would send that letter. It's not acceptable to demand money, then make out that they need further information from you.

Thanks. I've checked Noddle and CreditExpert, my history looks clean on both thankfully.

I've sent the complaint letter in, so I'll wait with baited breath to see what I get back since I guess they HAVE to send something back within the next eight weeks.

    Pre-paid envelope. Good. :)

Save you postage when you basically send the same letter again, reminding them again in big font that:

you will not be providing a debt collector with private and personal information, but you will be reporting them to the FCA for chasing you for a debt they obviously never had any evidence at all that you owed.
