Yes I was reading this one Vaillant Thermocompact VC GB 182EH 242EH 282EH 182EB 242EB but does it say anywhere how to refill water...? Can't see it...

I googled for a week before opening this thread, which has been most helpful actually. I emailed the manufacturer, lets see if they reply.

Absolutely NO affiliation with this site but found it when having problems with my Vaillant Turbomax (ended up having it replaced by a local plumber so never used these). He states, though, that he may be able to help you out by email and he does seem like a real Vaillant fan. I'm assuming he doesn't charge for advice? Maybe worth emailing? It's not like he's going to come to Germany to do any work so what's to lose?
