Arghhh! Clothes!

Do you ever feel like the clothes that are currently in fashion are just not designed with your body type in mind?
I'm a curvy size ten with more of a belly than I would like and have been shopping online and in the shops for clothes this weekend, and finding things that suit me feels like an impossible task.
The current trends seem to be crop tops, dresses with bits cut out, everything either super high necked or baggy and oversized (high necked thinks give me a 'boob shelf' and oversized clothes just make me look like I'm wearing a tent  ), bright neon colours and clingy jersey fabrics. Oh, and jumpers all have three quarter length sleeves, because apparently it's too much to ask for your whole arm to be warm.
I like 1950's style dresses but they're generally too fancy to wear everyday.
It's frustrating because I need new clothes and have money to spend but nobody seems to cater for my bodyshape or taste at the moment.
I just needed to have a bit of a rant because it's so annoying!

I know what you mean, everything seems so tight it shows off every lump and bump or so baggy you look 2 sizes bigger.0

Have a look at Boden, Jigsaw and Whistles - they do more classic styles. They're not cheap but they are investment pieces, they'll last you years.0

I've just had a quick look at the Jigsaw and Whistles websites - their tops are in more neutral patterns and colours and not cropped, but they do seem to have been infected by the 'oversized and high necked' virus. I think I might just have to stay in my pyjamas until clothes with waists come back in to fashion.Have a look at Boden, Jigsaw and Whistles - they do more classic styles. I buy second hand for a reason. Im five foot 1 and a size 12-14 and very little on the high st fits me, at least if I buy second hand Ive not wasted much money. I do like fashion, but I certainly dont follow the latest trends.0

I found this when shopping for jeans last month.
Ended up paying £45 in Next (and they do fit and flatter perfectly) because every high street shop I went in was all skinny or low rise.0 -
My particular problem is necklines. Round, square, boat necks don't suit me. Can I find V neck? It's a struggle. Particularly with jumpers unless they are cashmere and I've shrunk every cashmere jumper I've ever had so no more of them.Make £2026 in 2026

I want to know where all the v-neck t-shirts have gone as well as they really suit me but cannot seem to find them now.0

I'm glad it's not just me, although I'm at the other end of the scale, in the plus sizes. Even though I'm 50, I'm not ready to shop for 'classics' just yet, and I can't afford them anyway!
I used to see lots of things I liked on ASOS Curve and New Look Inspire but they just seem to scale up slimmer ladies fashion atm instead of thinking well maybe a larger lady would like that top a bit longer to cover wobbly bits, a bit nipped in to give her a waist and not tops with stupid phrases and things all over as that just invites comments. I saw a top with an elephant pattern on it not long back, a big girl wearing that's just an insult waiting to happen!Over futile odds
And laughed at by the gods
And now the final frame

fairy lights it isn't just you who is struggling. I think there are nice clothes out there, but they are hidden amongst the most hideous items!!!
bella try uniqlo for v-neck t shirts. They are plain cotton, but wash well.0 -
I hate 3/4 length sleeves. It's cold where I work so I need to wear long sleeved t-shirts under tops, or a cardigan over, neither of which work with 3/4 sleeves. Oh and don't get me started on those tops with elastic around the hem.
I am 5ft 4 and a size 8, no shape whatsoever. People assume I can wear anything but it's definitely not true! I sometimes long for a few curves.0
