Oh and check if you have any free legal advice or legal expenses cover with your home insurance or with any work place schemes or union memberships etc. They may offer a free helpline or better might be able to pay for a solicitor.

I can have £16,000 at any one time says the DWP

My mother has no connection in this only that I said she gave £4,500 towards a newer car...

My question is quiet simple ,,,

This has nothing to do with being clever ,, can someone ask for something back ones given as gift ? Also 1 yr later...,

If he want control over car why ? Did he not purchase one himself placing receipt and log book clearly in his name ,,,,

No. You can have £6,000 before it starts to affect your benefit. You then loose £1 for every £250 over. In this age of data matching benefit claims with bank accounts it is very likely that the DWP will find out if you maintain that the money is yours

If you were after legal advice why not contact a solicitor instead of a money saving forum?

So he gave your child £9k and you took it out of her account and spent it?

Think it was placed "conveniently" in the daughters account so it wouldn't be easily noticed by certain other people (/cynical) ;)

Can you not sell the car, give the bf a lump sum, use the rest to buy a cheaper car and agree to pay an amount each month.

No-one can force you to buy a car. So he made a fuss about it in a restaurant. So what?

And you also accepted £4,500 from your mother whose dementia is so bad she needs a carer.

Did you trade your old car in? If so, you may find that if you sell the new car now, you may have enough to repay all the money

How long ago did he gift/loan you this money? I think one of your posts suggests it was a year ago and I assume that in that year you have never made a repayment suggesting it was a gift and not a loan. Added to the fact that you don't have much of income how would he ever expect you to repay £9k. It sounds like it was intended to be a gift and now that you've parted ways he's trying to turn it into a loan.

As for legal advice, that's what you pay a solicitor for, they can't give out case specific advice on an Internet forum.

Your story has more holes than a block of Swiss Cheese.
