Dontone & Coffee Choo, thankyou for your replies, very helpful and understanding, when I asked the question people thought I was a bit barmy, I have started comping since having breast cancer and am not trying to make a living out of it, my question was misunderstood.0

Perhaps we should have a welcome to the comping club; please don't post any threads until you have searched to see how often the question is asked sticky.
A couple of weeks ago, I nearly posted a thread on here suggesting a sticky "commonly asked questions by newbies" post, but I thought it would seem like I was complaining and I didn't want to do that. We all have to start somewhere and we all had the same questions when we were new to this. This thread could contain answers to or links to previous threads on:-
How many comps do you enter a day?
Does any one ever win on C2Ws?
How long do prizes take to arrive?
I enter 10 comps a day and haven't won, what am I doing wrong?
Missed a call from 01234 567 890, who was it?
etc etc.
In reply to the original question, I agree with most of what has been said. The papers are full of professional compers stories at the moment, but how much do you need to earn to be a pro? £15k? £30k? £100k? Also how do you transfer your wins into cash? Some comps may say the value is £300, but would you really get that on ebay? A prime example would be all the coffee machines and juicers that are up for grabs at the moment, many of which you can buy in Argos for a fraction of the suggested value, so on ebay are worth even less. And alos remember that if you win a £5k holiday (if only), you can't sell it normally.
I am sure there are professional compers out there, but I wouln't want to give up work to spend 12 hours a day doing it as I doubt that even that amount of effort would regularly bring in enough to replace my salary.
PS Good luck with the BC, I know how hard it is as I have had it 3 times now and had more matectomies than is mathematically possible. Keep your chin up and take all the help that friends offer. xxxx2017 wins = £1350
2016 wins = £125 (18 months off comps)
2015 wins = £6,460
2014 wins = £1,3500 -
Thanks RAP x0
