In my humble opinion, I would have thought advising of a method of a saving the OP any where between 30% -50% (inc VAT which you do not pay if one DiY) on a upheld claim is extremely helpful and good advice.

Why do you continually post on this site to tell people not to post on this site? Why not take your own advice?
I am not sure how the statement 'You can't just "claim back" PPI because you feel like it or decide you want some money' can be interpreted as criticism. It is not, it is simply a statement of fact. As Taff says, it may be seen as stating the obvious but it is amazing how many people are under the impression they are "entitled to a claim" just because they have bought PPI. A situation which is mainly due to the mountains of misleading advertising from your industry. One example of which is here:

The OP's original post stated "I know I really need to claim back my PPI, I know i had them with several banks and credit and finance companies and have almost all the paperwork."
No suggestion of any kind of wrongdoing on anyone's part. This therefore implies that the OP may be one of those who is under the impression that just having taken out the product and having paperwork is going to get them a refund. It's not.
To the OP, apologies if this is not the case, but I can only reiterate, if you have grounds for complaint do it yourself!0
