Tracking an item from abroad help please

    as long as you paid by paypal, you stand a very good chance of getting your money back, should the parcel not arrive, start the complaint now with paypal, good luck x

    There was something in this weeks Webuser magazine about a customer who had problems with a mobile phone bought from China via Ebay.

    They received a full refund through their Credit Card Company.

    I will suggest opening a dispute via Paypal asap, you can always cancel as soon as item is recevied and is working fine.

    thanks all - they have finally agreed to try and track the package but I'm not holding my breath. I've opened a dispute is paypal just in case though! If I don't get a result on the tracking by monday then I'll step up the dispute.

    theres 2 levels of tracked parcel when arriving via royal mail.one is treated like a recorded delivery and the other like a special delivery.
    i cant comment on how this is stipulated as it depends how its designated as it arrives in the country.
    if its treated as a special delivery item(very few foreign packets are) then it will be trackable from being 1st recieved in the country.
    if its treated as a recorded as the bulk are they it will only be trackable once delivered or after attempted delivery.
    however given the long journey its not uncommon for tracking lables to come off or be damaged.
    if it will be trackable on the RM site it will be in a 2 letter numbers 2 letter format.
    eg RR 1234 5678 99 CN where the last 2 digits are the country code. CN is china.
    so if it doesnt follow this format the RM scanners wont scan it so there is no tracking.
    remember if your packet is snagged by customs as owing duty it can markedly delay it before tyou get the charge card posted

    Thanks for that - It does begin with an RR and ends with a CN so I checked again on the RM website and now it says

    Information on your item is not yet available. If the International Signed For® item was posted today please note that the majority of items are tracked during the night. Please try again tomorrow.

    which is different to what its said up till now :confused: Before it said number not recognised.

    maybe its been tracked though and just not updated on the customer site.if you like pm me the tracking number and i'll try and track it tomorrow on the intranet and see if theres a tracking history on it :)

    Thanks custardy - sorry I've only just got back to this thread. I've given up on the seller and upped the paypal claim as they have still not resonded to it or my requests to track the item.

    Not my week. Someone I've bought something else off that hasn't arrived is now no longer a user! They said it has been sent but reading the very recent feedback up until they were booted off I doubt they have!
