Really impressed with Kwik-fit

I don't see how passing a car for MOT is any indication of good service ... might just be they didn't check it properly.
[probably just a loss-leader]
+1
Its like buying a car and having no problems, therefore the dealer is great.
Its when you have problems or things dont go as expected that you see what a company is really like0 -
There are two kwik fits near to me, one is really honest and one will scam you left right and centre.
I don't think it's fair tarring them all with the same brush, I suspect it comes down to the management and staff at that location.
A friend went to kwik fit for a job interview about 1-2 years ago, the salary offered was minimum wage plus 30% commission on any parts sold by them. This will naturally drive the wrong behaviours as encouraging staff to sell bits. It comes down to honesty vs commission, and from what I hear mostly commission wins.
My friend actually rejected the job offer as found the approach wrong,
This highlights what a scary markup they must be making on the parts if 30% is going to staff as wages (plus employers NI, etc).
First time I took my car to them I had a couple of quid change in the cup holder and when they gave my car back it had gone.
I wouldnt use them again.Thinking critically since 1996....0 -

Even worse when your SAT NAV disappears. I haven't heard of this at Qwik-Fit but I was in a body shop where a customer was complaining bitterly that someone had lifted their sat nav while their car was in for repair. The moral is to remove everything before leaving your car for repair.0 -

Our car needed a new catalytic converter for its last mot, our mechanic (also the mot tester) quoted £150 but couldn't do it for almost 2 weeks as he is so busy, so I phoned around for prices, kwik fit wanted £420, I waited for my mechanic and fortunately he got us done 1 day to spare in the retest window.
I think that shows how they can pay the commission.0
