Hi All,
So I'm now looking at pricing my flights for upcoming holidays and I have a query.
I live in Brum, to get cheap Business Class tickets I will be flying from Dublin. My question is (and I suspect this has been asked, I can't find an answer)
Thanking you!

- Lets say I book DUB - MIA - DUB.
- The actual route is DUB - LHR - MIA - LHR - DUB.
- Am I able to ask them and are they allowed/able to tag my bags for LHR allowing me to disembark at LHR?
- Is this allowed/possible, if so is it just a simple instruction to the check in agent? What do I need to do?
Thanking you!

Nope. Fair is dub lhr Mia so that's the route. They won't let you join at lhrThe futures bright the future is Ginger0

I've not done this myself but from what I've read on other sites, US agents will not do this. Apparently if you fly from a different airport, e.g. MIA - LHR - LGW (or London City) - DUB, I believe they cannot tag your bags to your final destination if you have a change of airport in London.
I'm sure someone who is more knowledgeable will be along to confirm if this is correct or not.0 -
Yes I will start my trip from DUB, my question is can I then ask them to tag my bags upon my return for LHR. Is it still a no?

If I remember rightly you're bags will need to clear customs in London. But could be wrong it's a while since I've done that sort of trip. The futures bright the future is Ginger0

You can ask them, but it will alert them to the fact you intend to drop the last leg of your ticket. It's called Hidden City Ticketing and it breaches airlines conditions of carriage. They have the right to reprice your ticket for the route DUB - LHR - MIA - LHR which is what you took. Are they likely to? Probably not, but they could and I'm guessing it would be more expensive. They can also refuse to check your bags only to LHR. Lastly, as your ticket is from MIA-DUB they don't actually have to fly you via Heathrow. In the event of irrops they could reroute via somewhere entirely different.0

So what if we travel only with hand luggage, can a person simply clear customs etc. and not get their connecting flight?0

This is correct, BA will not transfer baggage between airports, so you would have to collect your bags at LHR (and they would only be checked to there from MIA) and take them to the next airport for the connecting flight. Then nothing to stop you simply going home from LHR instead.0 -
Aaaaahhhhhh I see! That's a simple "trick".
I'd posted similar on flyer talk, got some great replies. Someone mentioned making my layover in London overnight as they wouldn't see the airline holding on to our bags over night?
It's good to see there are options, I think I won't even bother asking in case by so doing I flag myself as breaking the rules?!?!
Thank you0 -
As you acknowledge that you'd be a rule breaker, if you become a BA regular rule breaker don't be surprised if their computer flags you up as one and takes action against you for this.Posts are not advice and must not be relied upon.0
