Honest, go to the CEO, do it now. He will be reading his emails all over the weekend. He won't respond personally but he will get someone competent to deal with your issue.
They can't leave you without any money whilst their fraud team is enjoying their weekend.0 -

This is what happens when you encourage the banks to police themselves with stupid AML regulations. Banks should only be able to act and do something like freeze an account when they have proof that something is fraudulent and in that case they should register someone on CIFAS.
As it is and it's ridiculous the amount of times it's happening nowadays, the banks are jumping on anything that they deem suspicious or remotely out of the ordinary and acting on it unnecessarily.
A friend of mine was put on CIFAS by Lloyds and had his accounts frozen and then closed for simply shifting his own money between two of his own accounts to double up on interest over a few weeks. Lloyds deemed the activity suspicious and acted on their suspicions to the extent that they believed it was fraudulent but had no proof it was so it was unbelievable they registered him on CIFAS. I think that case is now with the ombudsman as Lloyds wouldn't budge on their decision. Who do banks think they are?0 -

to the OP
Suggest next time when doing self assessment you request a direct refund into your bank account from HMRC.0 -
Is it too late to get a Sunday paper on the case?0

With HMRC and tax refund this can make good headlines.0

Quite surprised that you didn't ask for, nor were given, your tax rebate by bank transfer. This is the norm and would have avoided all this
The email for the ceo (it does work) is ceo@santander.co.uk0
