First Utility - Smart meters

Had an email response from first utility today regarding my query over smart meters.


my details have been given to siemens who will arrange ti fir an electric smart meter,


they say the gas meters are still being tested and should be rolled out by the end off the year, has anyone else had theres done recently

Had mine done last summer. Ignored the letter at first but First Utility kept calling me saying it had to be changed. I caved in and it was a 5 minute job BUT I had no record of the final reading on the old meter and now they just bill me without me having to give a reading so I have no idea at all if its correct, they could be ripping me off right left & centre. Also since the smart meter was installed my home plugs which act as another wifi router no longer work.

My contract ends 31st May with First Utility. Good riddance they are an awful company.

Do you have good mobile phone signals where you live? We don't so our Smart Meter can't transmit to Ovo and I still have to read it myself and email them the data. They say that they'll fit an aerial but no action so far but then it's a third party who'll fit the aerial so usual interface problems that seem to be inherent in the outsourcing world.

Gas and Electric fitted by E.on - both are easy to read yourself.
