Royal mail fraud ?

As an aside, RM don't always chase the recipient. If you make the mistake with a franking machine (as I have done a number of times in the past), they send the request to the sender, asking them to print an exact value label on their letter and return the letter.
Problem is here it's just not viable to trace the sender in all instances, like where std stamps are used etc.0 -
Would you prefer Royal Mail not to deliver your mail when it isn't correctly paid for? That's the only viable alternative they have, unless they deliver mail for free, which is clearly not sustainable.
Someone can put a letter or parcel into a post box with insufficient postage or no postage at all and nobody can stop them. There's nothing Royal Mail can do about it other than ask the recipient to pay.
FYI, when it's possible, they do usually ask the sender to pay - if they know who the sender is. E.g. when we underpay for mail at work, Royal Mail send us a card asking us to pay the shortfall. This is because they can tell who sent it via our franking account with them. What will your verse be?

Brilliant idea.
Pay £2.77 to RM to collect the package then return it back to the sender.0 -

On the card it says £2.77 is due as the sender didn't pay the full postage (includes £1 handling fee)
If I go down to collect the parcel myself I should not have to pay anything. Furthermore I should not have to collect it myself, if the sender did not cover the cost why was he allowed to send the parcel?
I want to know if I go down to collect this am I entitled to my parcel without having to pay? Depending on the attitude of the person at the post office I may fly off the handle and I don't want to do this by being prepared and knowing my right.
This all seems fraudulent to me, how do I deal with this? You could say it's only a small fee to pay, but if lots of people are paying this then the post office is making a lot of money and potentially defrauding people
You don't say anywhere here where the Royal Mail have been dishonest so it's not fraud.0 -

When having an undeserved rant about a major business, facts are irrelevant to the subject being written about.
The only thing that surprises me is that the OP hasn't peppered her post with the words scam, con and rip-off..0 -
We need JethroUK to pop up on this thread to explain to us all what fraud is0
