Oxfordshire ... so he was acting illegally. Definitely inform the police.

(Is that post nice enough for you Freddy? Did you really need to hang on Quentin's coat tails in the Motoring thread?)

well it worked , best bit of moving you , you were parked on private land after all

Agreed, not that it makes it right but i have been parking there for years, i thought it was overflow/extra parking. Its always nearly empty and a the furthest car park from the shop and my car doesnt really fit into the normal bays as so wide & long.

As far as I know (at least in the UK) it is illegal to clamp someone's car. Which makes me wonder if this is a true story, or some dodgy blackmailer with a clamp trying it on.

Actually he didn't do anything illegal as he had not attached a clamp yet.

I'm not sure that the police will be interested in the threat of clamping when no clamp was actually even seen.

My guess is it was scare tactics to try and get the OP to pay up.

What does a scammer look like then?! Maybe the newish van is because he is a very good scammer ;)

You sound like the kind of person that a clever scammer would love! How on earth can you confirm if someone is 'legit' or not just by the way they look, speak or the vehicle they drive?! The successful scammers rely on people believing they are 'legit'.
